Guest guest
Do you purchase the refine or unrefined coconut oil from Spectrum? Also am I assuming you use the food grade and not the beauty one Spectrum has on their site. Dell, Be aware that the refining process always involves high heat and, i believe, the use of certain chemicals. If you want to be sure that you're using the most natural, least processed coconut oil, choose one that's both certified organic and virgin. My favorite, for both skin and food, is NOW Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, which is cold-pressed and unrefined. There are other good brands as well, but for me this one wins for having the best texture and the most luscious coconut-y scent. (The refined versions don't really smell like much at all.) Yum! (I just opened a new jar and sniffed. . . . Hollis
Guest guest
I've been using Spectrum's organic coconut oil for cooking and tanning for some time, and I recently started using it for self-PT and topical application (vulvar). I'm glad that I learned that you can use it on the vulvar tissues - it is soothing and it hasn't caused any irritation nor infections. (Coconut oil doesn't get rancid as quickly as some of the other oils. It also has anti-fungal properties. This oil is different from hydrogenated coconut oil in junk food.) http://www.spectrumorganics.com/index.php If you are interested in using it, click on "Store Locator". Guest guest
Hi Dusty: Thanks so much for your quick response. I had heard of it before but I wasn't sure because I have been plagued by recurrent yeast infections lately so I am very, very nervous about putting anything down there. Thanks, I will look for Spectrum. BTW if anyone else struggles with chronic yeast, I've been using the coconut oil to cook meals as it is supposed to be a natural antifungal. It's pretty tasty too. It's only been a couple of weeks since I've been using but I will report back with my sucess. Dell > > Extreme success. Use Spectrum 100% Coconut Oil. Guest guest
I have used both refined and unrefined. Both work well. What I use comes in a white plastic jar with yellowy orange letters. (I'm in the basement now and the oil is two stories up and I'm sore as the devil from walking 35 mins. yesterday. I'll try to remember when I go upstairs to bed to bring it back down with me tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi : So sorry to hear that you are plagued with chronic yeast as well. It has certainly been an ordeal. Perhaps you know all this but as I have been doing research, I am finding out that two big culprits in the equation are lack of sleep and stress. Both of these lower your body's immune defenses, so it is critical to try to get this under control. Without this, the body will always have difficulty getting better. For me this has been the toughest part. To also boost my immune system, I've added some antioxidants, A,C,E either by vitamin supplement or by eating plenty of vegetables. Also wanted to tell you that I am also using two acidophilus probiotics to restore the healthy flora and help fight off the yeast. One called Powerdophilus $20 (any nature food store) and the other is by Genestra HMF Intensive $60, you can get it at Rockwell Nutrition, they are on the web. I am not sure which is better but I am told that the yeast can mutate so it's important to switch things up a bit. You should also try to avoid sugar which feeds the yeast and dairy which makes you more mucousy. For me, even when I do not have an infection, the discharge is there and can still be irritating. Also using the extra virgin coconut oil to cook meals with or you can just take two tablespoons each day. You can also learn more about the yeast connection by joining the Yahoo candidiasis group, I have learned loads and loads from them about fighting off this parasite. So far I have been good since my bout with yeast last month, my third in 6 months. So I am praying that it is behind me. Wishing you good health and pain free days. Dell > > > > > > Extreme success.
