Guest guest
Why don’t you ask him for desepramine, a form of amitriptyline without as many side effects? HTH, Anne New Dr. today Went to a new dr. today at a medical college. He gave me a diagnosis of vesitbulitis. He prescribed me amitriptyline 25 mg, an antidepressant and used for chronic pain. He said it's possible I had nerve damage when I had my daughter who will be 4 in July, This is when all of the pain started, after she was born. He also gave me Premarin 42.5 gm. He really didn't want to hear about what I've tried and what other dr.'s have said. He said he would like to start fresh with me, especially since I don't have all of my medical records. I go back in 8 weeks for a follow up. I am really concerned about the anti-depressant. I am already over weight and one of the side effects of course, is weight gain and a craving for sweets. Just what I need. I really wonder if this will ever end. Tracie

Guest guest
Tracie Have been on 20 mgs of Amitriptlyn for twenty years fors I.C. It has worked well for me with pain. Started out at 120 lbs. and gained a few lbs with it. At 58 and past menopause I am 130 and glad of the few extra pounds. I wouldn't worry about gaining with this pill. Only side effects I had was a little constipation at first. GOod luck with it. New Dr. today Went to a new dr. today at a medical college. He gave me a diagnosis of vesitbulitis. Weight gain is a problem with the meds--but once I stabilized on my dose I was able to lose weight a little at a time. The sugar cravings were solved with hard candy. Dry mouth---more water. Good luck Anne
Guest guest
Just because its listed as a side effect, doesn't mean it will happen to you. Many people have no side effects at all, as we are all chemically diffferent. They must list any side effect which appeared during the course of the trials, even if they can't prove its related to the drug- and if you ask for a patient insert it will generally tell you what percentage of people had a specific side effect. Get a patient handout from your drugstore. Guest guest
I would like to know what it is about theses meds...I take Lyrica that cause weight gain? Is it something in the chemical of the pill or is it just that they make a person sleepy and less active or WHAT!! thanks, ML “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul [mind, will and emotions] and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24 <<<< > I am really concerned about the anti-depressant. Guest guest
I believe that it is because they target the part of the brain which also in part controls the metabolism of our bodies....I have gained weight on the Lyrica and elavil very rapidly. Somehow it slows down the metabolism, and it also causes fatigue....due to the decrease. just my opinion...been reading a lot about this. > > I would like to know what it is about theses meds...I take Lyrica that cause > weight gain?
