Guest guest
Dear Suzanne, & Sam Hi! My name is Becky and my husband and our daughter Eizabella traveled to Iowa City last year in December and stayed through the month. We stayed at the Mc House. It was a wonderful experience. The house was a wonderful and warm place to stay through the treatment. We felt very fortunate to have been able to stay there. We called a few days ahead of time to see what the availability was - but, you just have to chance it and show up. If the house is full, they will give you a voucher for a discounted rate at the local Clarion hotel. They will place you on a waiting list and you can check in each day from the hotel to see if there is an opening. Will you be traveling back and fourth or are planning to stay in Iowa for the duration of the casting? If I rememember, with the voucher, the Clarion is around $40 a night. If you would like - please e-mail me directly and I can help you with planning your trip to Iowa - badcratr@.... Talk to you soon. It really is amazing the difference you'll see in just a couple of castings. > My question is for all of you who have gone to Iowa City. Do you > reccomend and particular hotel there? Sara and I have pretty much always stayed at the Heartland Inn . Sara has also stayed at the Clarion, but Heartland Inn has a better breakfast buffet :-) Both of these have a free hospital shuttle. We've paid $50/night at both places. Be sure to ask for the hospital rate. There's also a Mc house near the hospital. http://www.uihealthcare.com/PatientsVisitors/Mc/index.html Masoner
Guest guest
Suzanne, & Sam, I'm so glad that you are going to see Doctor Ponseti. Our prayers will be with you. I know that if anyone can fix Sam's foot quickly and gently, it's Dr. P. I've seen it firsthand! =) You will love the man!! I don't know if you were given good directions as far as the hospital is concerned, but when I called, they forgot to tell me that they were in the Pappajohn Pavillion, so I'm telling you now in case they didn't tell you either. I stayed at the Fairfield Inn when I went, I should have researched the rates at the other hotels...I think the Fairfield was $57 with the hospital rate. It was clean and comfortable, and I had plenty of room to set up 's portable playpen. If you have any questions, email me! Good luck, and travel safely! How about those stinky Packers?!?! =) & 3-16-00 > Hello again everyone, > > Today, took the morning off of work so that he could see Sam's > foot when I took off the cast for his appointment. Guest guest
Suzanne, Check into the Mc house...they will get you a discounted room at the Clarion if they don't have an opening. Also, where in FL will you be? We live in Ocala, and if you're close enough it would be cool to meet up... Guest guest
HI Suzanne: You definitely will not be disappointed with Dr. Ponseti. We have just arrived home from Iowa and it was the best thing we did for our son . Dr. Ponseti is a wonderful person not only a great Dr. We stayed at the Best Western Canterbury Inn. It was the only place that gave us a good deal on a suite. We also have a three year old so we wanted a 2 room hotel room so she could have a place to play when was napping. We joined their VIP club and it was 78.95 a night and if you stayed 9 nights the 10th was free. In all we stayed 11 nights. There is also the Mc house, which unfortunately was booked solid while were there. I call and get on their waiting list. It's something like 12 bucks a night. The number is and speak with Lamb. I hope this information helps and good luck. You will be pleased with Dr. Ponseti. Sue, Brent, Angele and
Guest guest
Suzanne, I think you will be very impressed by Dr. Ponseti's technique. It is amazing what his method accomplishes in a matter of weeks that isn't accomplished by other method in months. Rose was six months old and three weeks from surgery when we took her to Dr. Ponseti. By the time she was to have her surgery, her foot was completely corrected, and she was in the brace shortly after! I hope your visit with Dr. Ponseti is a good one. I'm not much help with hotels as I actually have an uncle who lives in Cedar RApids. Sorry I can't help you there. You will be in our thoughts.
