Guest guest
Cory (13 1/2 weeks) went to sleep yesterday from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm then nursed to sleep from 5:00pm-9:30pm then nursed back to sleep from 10:00pm-3:00am then nursed back to sleep (actually never really woke up here) to 5:00-nursed again. Stayed asleep until 7:00am. Dressed, nursed and he's sleeping again! No fever...eating ok...still has runny poops but averages normal number of times a day. Is this a growth spurt or a developmental achievement period he's going thru or should I call his pediatrition? ************************************************* - Proud mommy of Gilbert Cory (01-10-99) Imagination Station RFH Childcare " Parenting a child has the greatest potential for pain and love that a human could ever endure " *************************************************

Is this more than usual? >No fever...eating ok...still has runny poops but averages normal number of >times a day. > Breastfed babies have what looks like runny poop to us adults, but it is normal for them -- unless it's frothy like chocolate mousse, or watery. It should be more like a thick jello pudding with little yellow " seeds " in it. >Is this a growth spurt or a developmental achievement period he's going >thru or should I call his pediatrition? > There certainly is a growth spurt around the 12-13th weeks. Maybe he's hit that one.

ANd his poopy is runny- he used to have the consistency of musturd/green cottqage cheese and now he has liquid completely absorbed in the diaper. >> I would call his ped. Lethargy is not good. Guest guest
Its possible that he may be getting dehydrated then. Are you able to wake him more often? If you woke him every 3 hours (except for during the night) and try to convince him to nurse, that might help. Have you noticed any changes to your diet in recent weeks? Have you been making an effort to eat or drink any specific foods? Have either of you just gotten vaccinations recently? Try and think of what has changed in the last few days... if you think he might be sick, you should at least call your pedi and see if she thinks you need to bring him into the office, or if you can just do intensive nursing at home for a day or so to see if it makes any difference. Guest guest
Hannah, I think so too when I said not to call I didn't know he had diarrhea. I think a call would help put your mind at ease, . If his poop is like water soaking into the nappy then that's diarhea, combined with the sleeping I would have him checked out. How is the fontanelle on top of his head. If it looks at all sunken then he could be dehydrated. Guest guest
I nurse my Son more often than that. He's 25 1/2 months old. He sleeps with us and still nurses at night and during the day. He does eat regular foods also. He weighed 9 lbs 12 oz at birth and now weighs 32 lbs. I wish he'd cut down, especially at night ) Love, /indigo indigomoon@... http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/2570 > Re: Growth Spurt????? > > > > > At 07:40 PM 4/16/99 , you wrote: > > > > > >isn't nursing 4 times in 18 hours not a lot? Guest guest
, I know how that is Kaija never has been much of a sleeper. We used to nurse all night every night. It was rough. Zaid has just this week been sleeping until about 4 am which is heaven. Wendi Re: Growth Spurt????? > > > > > At 07:40 PM 4/16/99 , you wrote: > > > > > >isn't nursing 4 times in 18 hours not a lot?
