Guest guest
Hi All, I have been seeing all the posts on irregular heart beats & Ibs. Since I have dealt with both of these for years I thought I aught to comment. I went years with Drs trying to get both my BP & Irregular heart under control. They could get one or the other but not both. They were very concerned because they said my heart was simply beating itself to death. I mentioned it to a Dr. I found in Wisconsin who was very good with finding off the wall fixes for me. He put me on Atenilol and it done the trick for the most part. That one isn't quirky since it is for the heart. It's quite different when it comes to my IBS. I have it so bad I actually bend double in pain. I was on Nexium which helps my Acid Reflux and Hernia but they couldn't get the IBS to settle down. It was worse than being in Labor. With labor you know it is going to stop at some point. Mine was like labor for weeks at a time. Along with it can bouts of constipation and then all at once it would take an about face and I couldn't stay off the throne. Finally this Dr. tried me on Doxepin. It is an anti-siezure med I think (Been so long I forget but not for IBS) but it was thought to help IBS in some cases. So he tried me on it and sure enough as long as I take it I am not bent double or going from one extreme or the other. The Drs in Wisconsin knew that with Fibro many times it took things not even normally associated with something that would help. For my headaches, (Combo Cluster/Migraines) that nothing even Morphine wouldn't touch them in fact more times than not pain meds made them worse and they tried me on Tizanadine and it worked to control/maintain the headaches. They could not find the right med to control my Thyroid. One dose was to high the next was to low. So they tried alternating from one to the other each day and WALLA it worked. Seemed to be the perfect combo for me. All in all what I have learned with Fibro is that the Norm is almost NEVER the Norm for Us! One thing that helped me more than pain medication is a Tinz Unit. I have found many times that pain medication makes me hurt worse. I wonder if that is the reason we have so many reports here of meds not working. I know with me the stronger the med the worse the pain incresed. So you might want to take this in consideration. It could be a Normal occurance with Fibro people. For many times it is something NON related that helps us such as Seizure meds for pain, Ibs ect..... Don't be so quick to say they are nuts. Give things a chance. I know with me it is Usually something non-related that will help me the best and I have one of the Most Severe cases of fibro... Mine has been Cripling Fibro. Just Food For Thought!
