Guest guest
Thanks, Matt, for your comments. I operated with the outlook that " everyone sees things differently " ; it does no good to explain - just be sorry for what is true; " until my daughter R's past was being remembered/recounted with incidents that were blatantly untrue. This " extremism " also corresponded with her most extreme behaviours. It was shortly after this time that R hooked up with a therapist in town who was able to diagnose her condition. Unfortunately she moved a few hours away to be emeshed in med school so visits with him will be every few months at best. Meanwhile R's father has encouraged her to limit contact with me and my sister's family as I seem to be " a trigger " at times. I think we have that straightened out but I still worry that until she is able to sort through " things " with her therapist - she is a time bomb. BUT she is a big girl - I have sent her every book on BP that I can find (My - I am a PERFECT sick non-BP - lol) and I am available if she needs anything. Thanks for the help! Re: new member Hi I post infrequently, but when I do, I'm generally supporting my belief that this is largely a genetic condition that we're dealing with. I think that the fact that you are willing to entertain the idea that you could be " to blame " for your daughter's problem is a pretty good indication that you are not. .......... Guest guest
Dear Ellen, I'm glad to hear your in our group. It's a GREAT group of people. Losing the 10% isn't as hard as you would think it is. I lost more than my 10% before surgery. I had to loose 27 lbs. and lost 40 instead. Just by stop eating, bread, rice, pasta, fast food and sodas and going to the gym everyday. I was born in Concord 43 years ago at Mt. Diablo Hospital, and was raised there. I didn't leave Concord until I was 21 years old. It's was a great town back then, I now live in Sacramento. I miss the house I was raised in, my grandparents help build it way back when. My Orientation was 8-02-02, my surgery was 2-12-03, it took me that long to make up my mind if that was for me and I'm glad I did it. Once I made up my mind it only took 5 months to loose the weight. I'm am happy to say that as of today's date I am at, and still loosing, I broke that 300 mark finally I am so GLAD.... 392/344/298/? RevenStampin' Up!cindyreven.stampinup.net New Member Hi Kaiser Group! I just found out about this group a couple days ago. I am pre-op. Attended orientation at Kaiser Richmond on 8/7/03. Have had my physician appointment with Dr. Fisher. He is requiring me to lose 10% of my weight prior to surgery. Do all Kaiser patients have this requirement? Or just Kaiser Richmond? Or just me?I live in Concord. Any of you Concord residents? Is there a Kaiser support group that meets in Concord?I'm so excited to learn about the Kaiser on-line support group! Thanks for existing!Looking forward to hearing from any of you.Ellen
Guest guest
Hi, - Thanks to responding to my note. I'm so impatient about losing the weight, but I only have 15 pounds to go before I reach the 10%. I basically eat high protein (chicken, fish, turkey, fat-free cottage cheese) plus a few low carb veggies and a little fruit - and drink tons of water. I am diabetic so I have to be very careful about the carbs since I am trying to get off insulin (doctor's request). I also have arthritis - my knees are bone-on-bone and I have to use a walker, so I do water exercise twice a week. There are a few exercises I also do at home, but that's it. In fact, my orthopedic surgeon was the doctor who suggested WLS. Sounds like you are doing great. Did you have a Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass? Ellen Concord New Member Hi Kaiser Group! Guest guest
Hi all! I just discovered this site and it will be great.I am wondering if anyone goes to the Sacramento Support Group meetings at West Point Kaiser When is it? I use to go, but the last time i went no one was there. Also has anyone heard if Dr. Legha has left SSF. I have my final 18 month post op appt. and it was scheduled with a doctor I've never seen. (Dr. Styles) I've lost 230 lbs in about 16 months and have gone from a size 26 to a size 8. I really want to express my gratitude to Dr. Legha for changing my life! Also, who has had a lower body lift. I'll be looking to get that done in the next few months.
