Hey everybody,

It's Sandy, one of the newbies!!!

I have been emailing back and forth with the Bariatric Surgery

Program Coordinator at the facility I am thinking about using. I

had told her that I was concerned about the Blue Cross and Blue

Shield stipulation of having to have the last 3 years weight and

height documented and the fact that I did not see a doctor that

wrote my weight and height down for 2004. See I didn't see any

doctors other than the eye doctor and the dentist that year. She

emailed me back and told me:

" I am sure you have pictures of yourself from several years ago, or

even as far back as childhood. Start gathering those pictures and

begin putting them in chronological order. If they do not have a

date on them, guess. Look at the hairstyle or the background of the

photo and you will know that is was, say, Christmas of 2001 because

you remember the sweater you were wearing. Or, it was the Spring of

1999 because the azaleas in front of Aunt Betty's house were just

exceptional that year. You get the basic idea where I am going with

this. BCBS just wants you to prove to them that you have been

Morbidly Obese for greater that 36 months. Make sure that you have

both recent and not so recent pictures. "

This is great news to me!!! I am a scrapbooker and what few

pictures I do have of me are well documented!!! I can undo them

from the page, copy them or just copy the scrapbook page, and send

them to the insurance company.

She also warned me that if during the 6 month physician supervised

weight loss program that Blue Cross requires I should drop my BMI

below 40 they wouldn't cover it. Well know I just thought I would

wet myself laughing!!! If after all this time I could get from a BMI

of 53 to under 40 in 6 months I would be trying to find tinkerbell

or some other wish granting fairy!!! Come to think of it I have

seen that cute little fairy in those car commercials here lately

that turns this guy into a prep with 3 yip yip dogs so

maybe.............LOL.
