Guest guest
wendy, i'm not trying to be rude, but i have a few questions and a few comments... first of all, i'm curious about your insistence that katie get ABA. is this something that you KNOW works for her? is it possible that they think she's not appropriate for it because she's too high functioning? do you think that if she doesn't get it now, she can never get it? second of all, i was wondering how much OT you were expecting to get. 1hr indiv and 1hr grp is not so bad. in fact, it's pretty good to start with. if they see that she needs more after having her for awhile, they can always add more. third of all, the district ALWAYS has their own set of goals in mind before the meeting. the idea is for them to list off what they think is appropriate for katie and, if you agree to it, they will put it in the IEP. also, sometimes the goals don't match what you would have thought they would because they don't always teach things in a straight on manner. fourth of all, while i understand your complaint of them only wanting katie to make " meaningful progress " , that is truly all they're required to do. they are not suppoed to be curing autism, they are supposed to be providing children with the education they need to function in school and that's it. they are not responsible for making sure katie can do EVERYTHING she can possibly do. last of all, katie has a LONG school career ahead of her. she has plenty of years to try different approaches. she will change and grow and sometimes she will need certain services and sometimes she will need others. this meeting is not the be all and all of everything. while i'm not suggesting you agree to what they want if you're not comfortable with it, i do suggest at least trying some of what they have to offer her. if you were to agree to today's IEP and a little time went by and you, or even they, could see things obviously weren't working, you can ALWAYS change plans and try something different. i hope you're not pissed at me because i really am trying to be helpful. some of these things you learn with time so i can understand why you'd be upset, but just try and relax so you don't end up burned out before you even get started " Something important to remember...we'll always be who we are. Guest guest
Well, I have worked in County, and they had to get trucks from & county to cover..... Fannin County has had to send trucks from Western Fannin County to deep south eastern Fannin County to my former city to cover. That is exactly what it means. They have had to send trucks from Mineola to Emory, from Delta County to Fannin County, and vice versa to " post " and cover for calls. This is in addition from to County. I did not " tank " ETMC as you call it- i just stated the fact. In fact, in 2000 I was on a call from where EMS was dispatched from Tyler to County- because I had to lead the EMS unit to the residence due to them being unfamiliar with the streets & lack of signage. There has been times that EMS would send the County truck to go to Galveston on a prison transfer and then have to send a truck from Tyler. Jay (no subject) I'll not apologize because you chose to " tank " ETMC on their ability in your post of 6:19PM, to wit, " I have not seen ETMC able to maintain the truck coverage in any county I have worked in, other than Panola county <sic>... " . What does that mean? Have people died as a result? Where is the evidence and what are the implications? Bob Kellow

Guest guest
I didn't make the accusations and insinuations - you did. Are you willing to be deposed? I'm sure that there are many plantiff's attorneys out there that would be willing to listen to your " qualified " opinions. The problem is that we've got a lot of people out there that are " busting their hump " to " get the job done " - regardless of organizational affiliation. It's not fair (or defensible) to advance blanket indictments. when there's no supporting evidence of wrongdong. Bob kellow " J. Guest guest
I have never made a the accusation that a patient was harmed.....I merely stated that there has been issues of trucks having to cover other areas..... A former ETMC paramedic has replied stating " I have been the one that has had to go cover a area and been the one that would send a unit to cover a area, because there was not a unit to cover that area. " My question remains to you, do you have any proof as to otherwise in either catagory? Due to the fact that I have searched the Texas EMS certification query, and can not find you listed as an EMS certificant, under , Bob, or any variations on your name, can you please share with us your level of certification, if certified? Guest guest
Jay, The burden of proof is not upon me. I didn't make the statements or suggest that there was some wrongdoing on the part of two Texas EMS providers. As far as I am personally concerned - you're right - I'm not certified or licensed. However, I can assure you that the last thing you want to do is compare credentials in this forum. Bob Kellow " J. Guest guest
Bob, your suggestions that there are wrongdoing are jumping the gun. I have never accused anyone of " wrongdoing " on the part of two Texas EMS providers. I have: 1) Stated that AMR has failed in the past to maintain their contractual obligations with the operation of MedStar, and that they have lost contracts from major entities- including in the city in which they have their headquarters. I provided the news articles from that issue. 2) I have stated that ETMC EMS has had to pull trucks from other areas to cover their contracted area, IE Tyler to County, etc.... 3) I have NEVER STATED in this discussion that ETMC EMS or AMR has failed to maintain the standards of care, as outlined in Chapter 773, Texas Health & Safety Code, nor Texas Administrative Code Chapter 157, in regards to injuries or death to their patients. This is the only thing that could constitute wrong doing under Texas Law. Therefore, the burden of proof is not on me. I have met the burden of proof for the statements I stated as listed above, and stand behind them. I have supplied the documentation and supporting positions in regards to AMR & ETMC, and have provided examples of each thing I mentioned- ETMC pulling trucks to other areas. As well as AMR not meeting their contract requirements in Fort Worth, as well as them loosing contracts in other areas. The case with AMR was well documented in both the Ambulance Authority records & the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I have personal, first hand knowledge of ETMC EMS sending trucks from other areas to emergency calls- as I have responded to the same calls. This is in addition to hearing ETMC dispatching trucks to other areas on their radio frequencies. One of ETMC's former paramedics himself stated that this has occurred. Bottom line. I have never had Palestine or ville EMS to respond to any call for service, nor Paris-Lamar County, nor Hunt County Memorial Hospital District into the ETMC EMS service area when EMS was needed. AT NO TIME in this discussion have I said that patient care was compromised, resulting in the death or serious bodily injury to any patient. Your adding such comments, or suggesting that I have said that such things is are egregious, flagrant, and are a bold disregard for the truth. I do not know if you are misinterpreting my comments or what the situation is, but I would like to formally ask you to cease such actions. Your attributing comments to me, first stating that I had said the AMR statement stating that I had said that in regards to ETMC was in fact not correct. Then you tried to insinuate that I had talked about patient injuries/deaths, which is also highly inaccurate. J. Hoskins (no subject) > > > > > > > > > I'll not apologize because you chose to " tank " ETMC on their > > > ability > > > in > > > your post of 6:19PM, to wit, " I have not seen ETMC able to > > maintain > > > the > > > truck coverage in any county I have worked in, other than > Panola > > > > > county > > > <sic>... Guest guest
Jay, I didn't insinuate anything. I was attempting to determine if you knew of anyone who had been harmed as a result of your observations. Nothing more - nothing less. Absent any harm to the public, or verifiable contract violations, I don't understand the basis of your posts. Bob " J. Hoskins " wrote: > Bob, your suggestions that there are wrongdoing are jumping the gun. > I have never accused anyone of " wrongdoing " on the part of two Texas > EMS providers. > > I have: > > 1) Stated that AMR has failed in the past to maintain their > contractual obligations with the operation of MedStar, and that they > have lost contracts from major entities- including in the city in > which they have their headquarters. Guest guest
The winner is Bob Kellow. A lot fancier than the one I worked on over thirty years ago. Bob has identifed it now what does it do? By the way some things a new medic should do before going to work in EMS that will lower the whine factor. Feel free to add to the list. 2-3 years in the military 1 year in the oil patch or construction Henry Bob Kellow wrote: > Here's one, Henry. > > http://www.mathey-leland.com/images/mathey/logging.jpg > >
Guest guest
Hey I had three hard years in radio brfore EMS and medicine. Sitting at a control panel, playing records, talking on the radio, answering the phone. It was brutal. It is hard to say KFJZ, KXOL, WOAI, and KRLY over and over. BEB E. Guest guest
When I first started with the MS symptoms, my daughter who was about 16 at the time gave me the hardest time. She really was in denial, and thought I was looking for attention somehow. My boys, who are both younger, were always great. My daughter is 27 now and has a completely different attitude, she's come to the conclusion that this is for real. I'm 54, full time in a wheelchair and now stuck in a nursing home. Thank God I have a wonderful husband, he visits me every day. I have to say though, that most of my so called friends have turned their backs on me. When we were raising our children, I did alot of free babysitting for them, along with alot invites to my home and swimming pool. Now that I'm not usefull to them anymore, it's, see ya. Oh well, as the saying goes: " What goes around comes around. " __________________________________________________________________ Get the name you've always wanted @ymail.com or @rocketmail.com!
