Guest guest
Hi All, I wanted to ask a question of the group regarding training. As many of us know, we work with a variety of different people in the training program, and we occasionally work with trainees who just aren't cut out for dispatching no matter how much we try to help. As a trainer I firmly believe that training is an opportunity rather than a chore, and that it is my duty to give the best possible training that I can; however, I also believe that it is the trainee's responsiblity to take the necessary steps toward learning the skills and material offered in training. My question is: how much leeway do you give when a trainee is not progressing at an acceptable rate. I realize that learning is a subjective process, and that everyone learns at his or her own pace, but I am curious when you as a trainer feel that it is acceptable to " throw in the towel " verssus continuing to try to train. Any input you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jimmie Nixdorf Port Arthur Police Dept.
