Guest guest
Quite a few of new members are not employed as 9-1-1 telecommunicators. Some are involved in support roles such as ARES and RACES volunteers that assist with emergency communications. Some are volunteer firefighters and EMS squad members. And some are private citizens with a genuine interest in learning more about 9-1-1 and its people. Whatever the case, all are welcome and encouraged to participate within the scope of the group's purpose. We do not want you to feel intimidated. One stated goal of the group is foster a better understanding of 9-1-1 by the public, and to promote public education of what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. As so-called " outsiders, " your perspectives and questions are very useful to the professionals in the group. For 9-1-1 to work as it is supposed to, there must be a partnership between those behind the number and the people they serve. It must be built on mutual understanding and respect. Having said this, you are encouraged to post an introductory message. Let us know who you are, what brought you to join us, and what you hope to get from the group and what you might contribute to it. And to the 9-1-1 rookies who have joined us, this group is for you as well. Don't be shy or embarrassed. Every veteran has been where you are now. Thank you for being among those who are proud to be here, and proud to serve.
