We are issued 5 pair of navy blue w/ black stripe uniform trousers and 5

polo shirts along with 1 long sleeved Class A shirt and tie for formal

occasions. We have the department logo embroidered on the left with

" Communications "

under it and our names on the right side. We can also order 1 long sleeved

polo each year. We must wear navy or black socks and black shoes. On Friday,

Saturday and Sunday we are " cool " meaning we can wear jeans and a department

polo or T-shirt. The supervisors have the same uniform with the only

difference being their names are embroidered in a golden yellow thread and

" supervisor " under their name.

We used to have regulation uniform shirt that at one time was white then it

went light blue. Pants have gone from gray to dark blue to now the cargo

pocket pants. shirts now are short sleved polos. The long sleeved shirt is a

Henley brand. no logos but have choice of a badge embroidered on left breast

side

or the words " communcations " . Names are optional.

We're also issued upon request a navy blue sweater.

having uniforms, in my opinion, is great because you don't have to worry

about what to wear.

Bill,

If you are buying more than 36 shirts, it's kinda cool to do your own logo.

You design it, the artist makes it camera ready and the stitch people make a

computer stitch template for future orders.

You can do up to 5 colors in a very cost effective way. If you wish to add

titles like TRAINER or personalize them with names, that can be added after

the main logo.

Once you have the artwork down, the possibilities are endless. Polos,

twills, hats, jackets, fleece, etc.

Our guy is Steve - he can help you out -

Good luck!

Subject: 911:: dispatch uniforms

Good afternoon,

We are looking at having uniforms for our dispatchers. Nothing

extravagant ,probably dockers and polo shirts. Does anyone out there

do this now? ( I am sure quite a few) What do you offer them? Do you

have a patch/insignia desiegn you would like to share? Or a website

that has different options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have had polos w/ EMS pants for over 2 years now & we love them. We use a

local company that stitches the logo & it's very easy once the set-up is

done. They look great & stay cool in the summer. In the winter our staff

wears long sleeve white or blue shirts under them if they need some extra

warmth.

When I first started, dispatch wore the same as the officers.

We changed a few months later to polos and khakis. The first set of shirts had a

badge embroidered on it. Each year, we got new shirts and pants, but it was

never consistent. The shirt vendors change just about every year, and it is hard

finding shirts to fit everyone. Khakis were almost impossible, with people

raning from ultra small to ultra not small. Fridays were declared " casual days "

and anyone not required to wear a uniform, could wear " casual " clothes. About 2

or 3 years ago, we pitched to the Chief to keep the polos but allow personal

choice of bottoms. We have little or no contact with the public, and our temps

in dispatch are so changeable that it made sense to allow people to dress for

their comfort. Plus, by removing the requirement for a certain type of pants,

they could eliminate that cost from the budget. The Chief agreed and since then,

we get polos each year but are free to wear any slacks, pants or jeans that we

want.

HI Bill,

Our uniforms consist of tan/khaki pants, blue short sleeve & long sleeve polo

shirts with the department patch on them, tan or black shoes. We have to

provide the pants and shoes ourselves and the department provides the shirts.

We go from long sleeve to short sleeve the same time as the officers switch

their uniforms.

Hope this helps!

We had polo type shirts with the logo on it. Nothing about communications.

Then, sweaters. And we were told we HAD to wear them at work no where else. So

one dispatcher sent in a bill for cleaning the shirts and they were immediately

switched to optional wear.

We wear polos, they can be any color we wish. We are allowed to wear jeans,

shorts or capris as long as they are nice looking and hole free. We have three

or four designs we can get on the shirts one is just 911 on the corner, the

other has a picture of our county with name in the center, etc. Our agency buys

them spring and fall as needed. We get ours from someone local.

My (small) agency has us in regular police-type uniforms (no tie), with the

option of a monogrammed polo shirt (in a couple of different colors) for wear

with the uniform pants. Graveyard shift does not have to wear a uniform and

dark blue levis are allowed with the polo on Fridays. We are given $600/yr

(just like the sworn folk) for uni upkeep and replacement.

Since there are times we are the only ones in the building, it frequently makes

it easier to deal with counter traffic if we look like a " cop " (strictly

psychological quirks on the part of some of the public). For that reason, I

usually just wear the regular uni.
