Guest guest
Hi -I too just took the plunge with valtrex with my 36lb son. His Dan has him moving up on valtex from 250 mg to 500mg 3x a day. So I'm a little confused on the weight part. I sure don't wont to over do it. Is it common for doc's to only prescribe 250mg for kids under 50lbs. Anyone here doing it differently. When I bring these things up to our doc she says " I've been doing this for 10yrs and don't believe all that stuff on the yahoo groups blah blah blah. Is their any where on the web where I can read about this and show it to our doctor?? angelique > > > > Subject: Valtrex dosing question! > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 5:10 PM > > > Â > > > > Hi! posted this morning that I finally took the plunge and started Valtrex with my 8 year old. After reading several posts, files and anything I could find on anti viral therapy I think that maybe my son is starting on too low of a dose. His Dan has him starting on 250 mg twice a day. Does that seem too low for an 8 year old who weighs close to 60lbs? Maybe he is starting low because I was a little nervous about the whole idea. Maybe I should add in OLE too. Any thoughts would be great! > > Thanks, > Dayna >
