Guest guest
Happy Holidays! I hope the West Coast therapists can provide a little insight. We have a California Workers Comp patient and have received a denial that I do not understand. The Payer has denied 97140 Manual Therapy, providing an Explanation Code " OC - This procedure is not a valid fee schedule service " . I have reviewed the diagnosis codes and they appear appropriate and would reflect the potential need for manual therapy interventions. Is 97140 not a reimbursable code under the California Workers Comp system? In your experience is this a case that requires a typical appeal with explanation of services or is another approach required to resolve the denial?
