Guest guest
Hi Lois, Usually, surgery causes your thyroid levels to come down a bit since your needs for thyroid hormone are perceived by your brain as being low during times of bed rest, after trauma, etc. Your TSH can also be lowered, which is why thyroid hormone levels are not recommended on hospitalized patients. Some drugs also affect thyroid hormone levels so you could have temporary changes caused by meds. And if you were stressed by the surgery, this could make your levels higher weeks later. Guest guest
Lois: I don't have clinical proof, but can tell you that my Graves' really got going after a major surgery in 1999. I had a small surgery last month in which I was under general anaethesia, and I definitely felt more hyper post-surgery. I am in remission, and didn't start my ATDs again because it was not very severe, but yesterday I took an Ativan for the first time in months. If this keeps up I will get a blood test and see what's up. It makes sense to me that a surgical stress could have this effect. Guest guest
Hi Lois, Having surgery certainly adds stress to your life, and stress can make that Graves penduleum swing for a while...don't rule it out. Guest guest
YES, . I have had this happen lots of times. Im not sure what causes this. The first time it happened it scared me. Now if it happens I take an ativan or a half of one. It takes the uncontrollable shakes away. I am curious if anyone knows what causes this? Guest guest
I have had it happen, a lot! It has gotten better since I started LDN but it used to happen every night...the only good part is, I shivered so much I actually lost weight! Akiba -- Another question Last night I was shaking so bad it was like I was frozen or something. I wasn't cold at all and i couldn't stop shaking. I am fine this morning but tired. Has this ever happened to anyone here with MS? It has happened to me about five years ago as well. I just put it down to MS since it sends funny messages at times. Happy Spring to everyone and hope everybody is enjoying it. I love this time of year with all the new growth and the beauty of it all.Hope all is doing well and i will pop in again/Thanks

Guest guest
, sometimes I'll wake up from being asleep for awhile and my whole insides feel like their shaking. It almost feels like an electric current coursing through my body. It doesn't last for too long, and I'm usually able to go back to sleep. The first couple of times this happened to me it kind of freaked me out, but not so much anymore. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm assuming it's caused from having my central nervous system out of whack; you know, like a short circuit. If you're not having cold chills along with the shaking or muscle pain, I don't think it might be a Potassium deficiency, but you know, if you are really worried about it, you should ask your Dr. about it. I'm loving the spring too! Could use a little less rain, but all in all I think it's a very lovely spring. The first one I've been able to enjoy in many years. May you be blessed.
