Hi Everyone!

We had another u/s today. It was so amazing!!! Baby is 2-1/2 inches

crown to rump and has a heartbeat rate of 154 beats per minute! We

got to see the head, eyes, nose, mouth, belly, spine, ribs,

stomach, heart, arms, hands, elbows, shoulders, legs and feet! We

were just in awe! It is the most incredible experience! Baby was

even moving and my Dr. said with one arm up to the mouth, baby was

probably sucking his/her thumb. We are in love!!!!!

My Dr. spoke with us about having an amniocentesis. He recommends it,

based on my age and the mc and ep. After much thought, we have

decided to go forward with it. We will have it during week 15, the

last week of April. I am very nervous about it! Can anyone tell me

about their experience??? Just about to finish the first trimester

and I thought the worrying would decrease...so much for that! Now I

have this to worry about! Please keep us in your prayers.

Anyway, it was a wonderful day and we are on cloud 9 tonight!

Elle,

Hi, how old are you??? I'm 35 going to be 36 in June. After 35 they

suggest the amnio, but it freaked me out. I know alot of people,

including my sister that had it done and they were fine. I guess my

reasoning for not doing it was that the procedure was spooking me for

one thing, and the other thing is that even if we found out that

something was wrong we were not going to terminate the pregnancy

anyway. I did go ahead and do the AFP screen (bloodtest) and those

results came back fine. It's a tough call to make either way.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful ultrasound! It is amazing isn't it?

Thanks ! It was such a wonderful day! Thanks for all of your

prayers!

The Dr. who will perform the amnio, only does amnios. That's all he

does. My u/s tech will be there, my Dr., the amnio Dr. and the

Genetic Dr. who did our Genetic counseling and testing. My Dr. told

us that The amnio Dr. has, to date, never had a loss occur due to the

amnio. That did put our minds at ease a little. The whole thing is

just scary! I asked my Dr. if there was anything I would need to do

to prepare and he said, " just relax " ...Yeah, right!

Thank you again for your prayers! We will know on Monday the exact

date we are scheduled for the amnio, so I'll let you know...I'll

really need your prayers then!

Thanks Pam!

If we had decided not to do the amnio, my next u/s would be week 20

too. With the amnio though, we will have an u/s, so at least we'll be

able to see baby again. Doesn't it seem like such a long time to wait

until week 20? Just think how much more we will be able to see by

then! Hope your m/s subsides soon. I'll be thinking of you!

Vicki,

I am 37 and will be 37 at time of delivery. Along with having had a

mc and ep, my Dr. recommends anyone over 35 at time of delivery have

the amnio. Our Dr. talked to us about the AFP, but told us it only

tells you what risk % you are at, but doesn't diagnosis problems. DH

and I decided that we would just rather know now if there were any

problems instead of finding out at delivery. We thought about doing

the AFP and then deciding on the amnio, but decided to go ahead with

the amnio as soon as possible. So, we will have it done the early

part of week 15. I really appreciate your prayers! Thanks!

It was a wonderful day...one I will never forget! How are you

feeling? Feel any closer yet?

Elle:

It is amazing isn't it. The progress of the human body is incredible. You

are smart regarding doing some investigating on the amnio. You are like me

in that respect. I want to know what is going on.
