Guest guest
I don't think you've ever said if Bill has UC - if so, sulfasalazine (Azulfadine) can cause (temporary) male infertility. I'm afraid I don't know about the effects of anti-rejection meds. There probably is some sort of genetic component to PSC. On the other hand, I'm the only one in my family that has it, that I'm aware of (parents, grandparents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, numerous nieces and nephews, 1 with Celiac). Arne 53 - UC 9/77 - PSC 4/00 Alive and (mostly) well in Minnesota -----Original Message----- From: trampino Hi group, Now that Bill has been diagnosed with autoimmune diseases of the kidney and liver, and is heading toward another transplant (kidney this time), can anyone tell me if all of this will have an effect of him becoming sterile? It has been a concern of mine for quite some time, but since the kidney disease came about, I've been thinking about it more. With all of the medication he is on, will that effect his " troops " ? Is there something that we can do to prevent this? What are your experiences with this? Also, are autoimmune diseases hereditary? Is there a good chance that it will be passed down to his children? Just curious.. Thanks for all of your help! Tina
Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. Bill was diagnosed with Chrones Disease at 12 which has been in remission for about 12 yrs. He was diagnosed with PSC at 13. And this year was just diagnosed with glomerulonephritis of the kidneys. His father is a diabetic. His youngest brother has possible " undiagnosed " Chrones disease which he has never really had any problems with. His sister has autoimmune hepatitis and possibly chrones. And his other brother has Epstein's Bar. Just wondering if all of this is likely to be passed down to Bill's children. Or if this will effect fertility. Thanks! Guest guest
, Thank you so much for such a thorough response to my questions. I will take the time to read those articles and hopefully understand a bit more about the genetic componenents. I appreciate you taking the time!
