Dear Forum Members,

The Population Foundation of India (PFI, formerly known as Family Planning

Foundation) was established in l970 by a dedicated group of industrialists and

population activists led by Bharat Ratna the late Mr JRD Tata who guided it as

the founder Chairman until his death in l993.

The Population Foundation of India (PFI) is the Global Fund Principal

Recipients for " Access to Care and Treatment - ACT " in India. The core

NGO-Private sector sub grantees involved in implementing the care and support

component of this program are Indian Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS

(INP+), Chennai; Freedom Foundation, Bangalore; Engender Health Society, New

Delhi and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), New Delhi.

This is a five-year program initiated since April 2005 and the first phase is

for two years. We have completed first phase and one year in second phase of the

project.

As part of the program, in state of Andhra Pradesh twenty three district level

networks are serving nearly 30,000 people living with HIV/AIDS. Ten treatment

counselling centres are established in ART centres. Two positive living centres

are functioning. These service delivery points are established by INP+ with help

of TNP+. Freedom Foundation has established a 50 bedded Comprehensive Care and

Support Centre in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Down the lane three years these services delivery points have done great wonders

in their respective work areas. Best Practices taken up by these service

delivery points needs to be disseminated to a larger group and to encourage

cross learning. Their work should be recognized.

*Population Foundation of India –AP State Unit is organizing a " Conference on

Access to Care and Treatment " at CELEBRITY BONQUITE HOTEL, Chikoti Gardens,

Hyderabad on 19th of June 2008. *

Objectives of the conference:

1. To get broader prospective on the developments, issues and challenges in

accessing care and Treatment

2. To bring all the service providers in Access to Care and Treatment

project on a bigger platform and provide an opportunity to present their major

achievements.

3. Recognize and appreciate the efforts made by service delivery points.

Encourage cross learning among the SDPs.

With great pleasure we invite you to participate in the conference. Please
