Guest guest
Hi Anne, I have another consultation since you used Cyklokapron. Do you think using this medicine just a few days before UAE will interfere? I am thinking of already postponing my UAE date to a few days later (if my IR is understanding enough) as I am pretty convinced I will have started my period than and still does not feel right to do the procedure. HOwever, since I use this medicine, I wonder what it will do if anything at all. Regards. Lidia.
Guest guest
Be sure to ask you IR about this and any other medication/herb/vitamin you are taking. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hello Lidia, That's a very good question. I wish I could answer it! Common sense suggests any drugs taken a day or two before a proceedure can have some effects, but whether it is one that may be beneficial or not will have to be for your IR or GYnae to answer. My Gynae did explain very carefully that this drug worked as antifibrinolystic - it cuts down on the enzymes that the body produces to prevent clotting. So its a clot aiding drug I suppose; not that it will create big clots most of the time but it just stops the hemoraging that can occur - and this is exactly how it worked for me. But this conversation was a while ago and the details have got a bit hazy! Since the main thing your IR will be interested in is nice big fat arteries for easy access I don't suppose this drug will be that much of an issue but only he/she will be able to advise you. I am sure this is a question that will have been asked before. If you are bleeding at the time of the proceedure I expect it will stop pretty quickly so don't let this worry you. Seek advice, I find most people love to be asked! Anne > Hi Anne, > I have another consultation since you used Cyklokapron. Do you think using this medicine just a few days before UAE will interfere? Guest guest
Good day to you all and to Ann (storming1) I was yesterday by my IR and (as rebound) my Gyne too, I bumped into the Gyne just after my talk with the IR and he was very nice and kind and instead of making another appointment he just talked to me for a few minutes there and then, isn't that especially...nice? I thought so. The IR told me that the use of Cyklokapron before UAE should not really matter but, in any case, to stop its use 5-6 days before the procedure, just to be sure. I did also postpone my UAE one week as to avoid heavy period days (or at all), so that was fine too. I could not clear up with my Gyne about which type of painkillers he uses but he said " that why should anybody be in pain? " he gives a supository (?) and other type of painkillers, I asked him that if I needed morphine whether he would give it and he looked at me to say... " why not? " - Ja ja! I think is crazier than me actually, although he also made the joke about " If I take it for a week I'll be a junk " .....his sense of humour is quite.....unusual. I also found out that the particles they use here are of the acrilic type, so, no PVA as in the US, they reckon is a better substance because it adapts to the arteries, a bit like a sponge (something like that). I still don't know why some countries would use Pva and others acrilic...still. My IR also told me that pendulating fibroids he does not want to treat, since I dont have any of those (strangely enough considering the multiple ones inside me) there is no issue. Pendulating ones are done by myomectomy. I do, however have a large cervical fibroid, any info on those?? We also talked about the woman who passed on last year (in the same hospital) and how rare her infection was that could not be treated with antibiotics, it was a rare desease. He has made sure that I have all the contact emergency numbers and so on in case something unusual happens to CALL immediately!!!!! (I suggest that to everyone too) At first sight of infection, yellow green colour stuff, whatever, not to wait and GO! . Also, they give antibiotics just before and after the procedure via IV. I am quite convinced that my IR will not take any chances and my Gyne, being especially nice, won't either (I know that for certain), and hope that everything is...more than OK. Uff...tick tock tick tock.....show must go on. Lidia
