Not to mention if the sheriff was peeved that is lame too. You didn't

mention one way or the other, but were I the sheriff, I'd be tempted to

dismiss it out of hand due to the way it was presented.

Lame is being kind, Jim.

Ask that person if they want a saucer of milk.

I would not, nea, could not work for an agency that would not allow me to vent

in any

manner I choose, as long as I was truthful. Any supervisor/manager/leader who

would

stifle legitimate grievances is a fool. He/she can acknowledge grievances and

may

admit that nothing can be done about them due to politics, funding, or the will

of the

many. But they must acknowledge them and discuss them in an open arena. They

may then

tell you that you are wrong, you are full of shit, you are out voted or that we

can not

afford them. But they must acknowledge them and make an effort to resolve them.

I

would much prefer to go to my supervisor/boss and say this sucks and get his

reaction/response, than have my grievances delivered surreptitiously and look

like I

was working behind his/her back. As a manager I would much rather have the

opportunity

to address those issues in person. Then if I could explain why they couldn't be

properly resolved, address the reasoning, then allow you to bitch away.
