Rehab. dept. uses vendor for splinting. Vendor generally tries to come to the facility when the patient has a regularly scheduled appointment to do fittings, etc. When the vendor is unable to make it when the patient has an appointment, the vendor wants to schedule appointments directly with the patient and meet at the facility. Facility space would be used for the service. Patient would not otherwise be at the facility at that time. From a compliance perspective, should the vendor be paying FMV for the use of facility space? The vendor has a policy against going to patient's homes for safety reasons. Wouldn't the same safety issues pertain to the hospital if they used hospital space? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!! Tessa Tessa L. Guest guest
Tessa, We have vendors meet our patients here frequently when they have an appointment. Usually, we have been able to arrange it this way. I think there have only been a few occasions when the vendor met the patient and the patient didn't have a scheduled appointment. We have not charged the vendor for use of the space. I just count it as a service to the patient who is likely using the device as an adjunct to therapy.
