Guest guest
welcome to the group Micheal. My name is and I live in Florida with my husband and 4 children. I am awaiting to have my surgery. long process. I will probably have it in or after July I was told. MICHAEL wrote: Hello, my name is I am from Texas, I had my surgery November 28, 2005. I was a 50.7 BMI weighing 406 @ 6'3 " tall. as of today February 24, 2006, I am down 84 lbs. I feel there are days where I eat everything in site and others where I cannot force myself to eat. I was told that people " do not get hungry " until after 4-6 months, I found out this is a myth (at least it is with me) I have had only 2 really bad days since I have had my surgery and one of them was due to other illness. I still have problem with certain foods IE: Chicken: The item that I was told would be my best friend, well with friends like that I will just keep enemys...lol I am off today for my 90 day checkup, I have to drive 120 miles to the office and 120 miles back, but today I am especially excited because My wife is going with me, I think I might have actually convinced her to have it done, I guess when she is on the table then I know my convincing has worked. All of my hospital bills and other supporting bills have finally gotten paid by my insurance, all total over $52,000 was billed, they paid right at $25,000 and that was just for 1 night in the hospital. That is what is wrong with insurance, they will take a 27,000 right off because the insurance company say so, but if you were paying cash they would sure not give u over 50% off. Well I look forward to being a member of this group, and I will be writing again soon, We are a very active support group. If the email becomes overwhelming, please change your setting to NO EMAIL! Guest guest
Hi !!!! Welcome to the group!! I'm glad you joined!! My name is , I had surgery Aug. 17, 2004. I weighed 266 lbs and I have lost 125 of those pounds. I was a compulsive overeater. The surgery has helped me tame this. If you have any questions please feel free to come and ask them. Hugs!!! > > I am new to the group...sorry I havent posted till now but been having > computer problems....so please bear with me till I can get it worked > out..alittle about me I am 38 Female...from Alabama...thinking about > getting the Gastric bypass done..still not sure...but I am very > obese..and have alot of health problems...and really have tried every > diet there is....I thought joining this group would help me with my > decision and to give me more information about it....and hopefully > meet some great friends in the process...well thats about it for > now...like I said please bear with me with my computer > stuff..hopefully it will be working alot better soon..at least I hope > so.. yall take care and talk to u soon > >
Guest guest
Hi I am new to this group and I am in the process of having Gastric Bypass done and I am wondering how you handle it afterwards. I am a stress eater and a bordem eater. How you do handle those trigger times now??? I am hoping to learn how to cope with those times prior to surgery but it is hard to retrain the brain. Just looking for a little help. Thanks in advance paula
Guest guest
a, You will learn that at first you are concentrating on your recovery and then as the weight comes off the stress level goes done as does the boredom because you will have so much more energy you won't have time to get bored. I was an eater for every emotion. Now I find I just deal with it. Yes, I still have food setbacks (I'm four years post op), but I don't let them control my life. My stomach definitely tells me when I'm done binging and it is quite soon after I start. Then I'm miserable for about an hour and I swear off binging ever again. I do that about once a month. I do gain a little weight 15 to 20 pounds every winter and then I realize that my summer clothes won't fit and I go back to the pouch rules and I'm ready for summer. You will do just fine. Trust yourself, your stomach, your therapist and your nutritionist. GastricBypass-LOSERS-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Hi a!!!! It is just different. You can't overeat like you are used to now. It isn't the same. You don't have that full-satisfied feeling. There are some who are able to find new coping skills like walking, working out, talking things out when before they didn't. I started going to therapy a few months ago and this has helped me tremendously. I also was a compulsive over eater and a boredom eater. Good luck to you!!!!
