Guest guest
I'm so miserable! I've been fighting malaise and lightheadedness for the past week. I've low energy levels, and my voice has been congested. I thought it was just sinuses. Today, I have the chills and am sneezing and my chest which has been scratchy is worse. I'm also having nausea. I went to a walk in clinic and they refused me medical care. I have Medicare and I have a Medicaid spend down (since I am unmarried) for when my medical expenses are super high, or have any surgeries and such, they will pick up what medicare does not cover. First, I must submit each month $700 that I spend out of pocket before Medicaid will pay for anything. The lady was very snotty with me. I called from my cell phone to ask why it was that they could not treat me since they DO accept Medicare. She told me in the tone one talks to a child " You have MEDICAID and Medicare. LEGALLY, we cannot treat you, you have to go somewhere that accepts BOTH. " I told her in 4 years, I have never heard of such a thing! My own family doctors office does not take Medicaid but does take Medicare. They have no issues treating me! And I have never been told that anywhere!! I was going to go to the Walk In clinic at the hospital but the last time I went, they said my lungs sounded fine, and advised me to follow up with my family doctor. I got in to see him two days later, and I had really bad bronchitis. My mom tried to talk me in to going there, but they will just say to follow up with the family doctor, so I will call him tomorrow and as always, I am sure they will fit me right in! ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock. Guest guest
I hope you are feeling better soon ! I'm fortunate in that I have medical coverage through my employer. I'm terrified of the time when I won't have that to depend on and I'll have to maneuver through the minefield of US healthcare on my own! > > I'm so miserable! Guest guest
OH, my gosh! what a hag that woman was. I am so sorry you were treated so shabbily. My daughter recently got health insurance through her work. Her kids had been seeing a doc who took medicaid and CHAMPS. The first doc visit after their major medical went into effect was interesting. The receptionist was really snotty with her, asking how she was paying, if she was STILL on medicaid. When she told her she had BC/BS, her tone and demeanor totally changed, she was just as sweet as pie. When they were through with the co-pay and everything, that clerk got an earful. told her that she didn't appreciate the way that she treated the medicare and medicaid patients, that she wouldn't talk to a dog that way, and furthermore, her mama had brought her up to view people by the content of their character and not their pocketbook. There was an older lady who came up and thanked her, because she had been treated disrespectfully by that person also. Score one for the underdogs! > > I'm so miserable!
