Guest guest
I just did a big grocery shopping (just for me, I live alone) for the first time since starting IE. I actually enjoyed some of it, but felt overwhelmed. For example, I was looking at the yoghurts, and I was looking at the calories and fat as usual. Then I realized I dont Have to get the lowest calorie/fat ones, I can get some I like! Or try new ones! I just realized a few days ago that I don't like most of the 60 cal. Dannon Light yoghurts. Why was I eating them? I DON'T LIKE THEM. I like Stoneyfield Farm. It may sound like a small thing, but figuring out what I like is big. I came back with strawberries, an avocado, apricots, oatmeal, cheese, sliced turkey, and several Amy's frozen dinners. (I'm not avery fond of cooking, but of course, I have a nice cookbook collection!) It was hard to pick out foods not based on their calorie/fat/fibet content. I did have a donut, pizza, and ice cream already today. It's amazing to be let of jail--but there are still things holding me back. I just ate something, even though I wasn't hungry. But it wasn't a huge amount. My boyriend (who's much heavier than me) was surprised when I came back from a walk with the dog with a donut. He said " I like this diet. I never saw you do this. I'm going to have to get a king size bed for the new apartment. " (Which of course, hurt me a little. He said he was joking.) I had him put the scale in a very inconvenient location in the top of the closet. I'm making progress.
