Guest guest
If you take your Armour sublingual them you can take your iron at the same time. If not then separate that and calcium by at least four hours from the Armour. Take Iron with Vitamin C so it will absorb better. I don't think you are supposed to take Vitamin C with calcium so I usually take my calcium/magnesium and Vitamin E at bedtime. I HOPE this is right! Guest guest
Thanks Dianne. Guest guest
I hear you! It is enough to make you feel dizzy, isn't it? . Here are some interactions that I can recall. * Thyroid meds - do not take with/near iron or calcium * Iron - do not take with thyroid, calcium or eggs. * Selenium - do not take with Vitamin C. Do take with Vitamin E. * Calcium/Magnesium/Vitamin D - take together. Also good to take just before bedtime. Magnesium relaxes. * EFAs/Fish Oils/Flax Seed Oil - take when consuming a fat (mealtime often good). Other fats aid in absorption * If you are hypo, consider taking Cod Liver Oil instead of/in place of some of your Vitamin D/Vitamin A/Betacarotene. Hypos are poor converters of betacarotene to Vitamin A. CLO also contains a good dose of EFAs. I have just converted to this. I reduced my Vitamin D supplementation & eliminated betacarotene when I did. Look at the totals of these included in your multi/calcium/fish oil supplements if you make the conversion. I have found a " chaser " of milk makes the CLO go down much better & eliminates the yukky taste. * Multi - if it has iron, see contraindications for iron. Don't take at the same time/near your thyroid meds. Here's an interaction guide: http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/adam/DisplayMonograph.asp? storeID=15F522D98A3A417FBE8D6702F135785A & name=ConsLookups_Interaction sByHerbSupp Some more info: http://thyroid.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm? zi=1/XJ & sdn=thyroid & zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thyroid-info.com%2Farticles% 2Fthyroid-drug-faq.htm http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsLookups/Supplements.html (Interactions part is good - dosing may be off - i.e. they recommend no more than 1000IU of Vitamin D & there's a lot of good research out there point to the safety of higher levels, especially in the winter for those in northern climates) http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/herb_All.html#V http://dietary- supplements.info.nih.gov/Health_Information/Vitamin_and_Mineral_Suppl ement_Fact_Sheets.aspx#a Vitamin C interactions http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsSupplements/Interactions/VitaminCAscorb icAcidcs.html Those are the ones that come to my mind. Here's some of what I do - since I take 3g Vitamin C/day (1g 3x/day), I found it helpful to take cal/mag/d with selenium & E just before bed. It was too hard to squeeze the selenium in at any other time of day. I take my iron supplements (I have low ferritin) at lunch & dinner, since I'm more likely to have eggs/milk/calcium supplement with breakfast. Some of my 1/x day herbal supplements, where time of day/interactions didn't matter, I moved to lunch or dinner, just for the sake of spacing supplements thruout the day. Otherwise the a.m. section was too full, plus it was easier digestively to spread out the pill-taking thruout the day, rather than having a majority in the a.m. HTH, > > This is slightly off topic, but I'm hoping if anyone thinks of anything at > all, they will chime in! > > After being off vitamins and supplements for 8 weeks so some blood tests > could be done, I'm ready to start them again. Do take with Vitamin E. Thank you ! It definately does make me dizzy ... then again, there were frequent periods in my life where I was called Dizzy Lizzy - LOL! As usual, you provided a wealth of info; I'll check out all the links when my brain is doing a tad better. For now, I feel comfortable setting up my pill boxes with your synopsis, and of course the input of other helpful group members. Thanks again, dizzy Liz (hopefully not to be confused with ditsy)
