VACC Camp

20th anniversary VACC camp returns to Shake-A-Leg Miami

Participants with disabilities come from all over the country to this camp which is put on at Miami Children's Hospital. For a week, they stay at AD Park and participate in a variety of activities all over Miami---Shake-A-Leg Miami is one of their destination spots and needs additional volunteers to make this magical day happen. These participants are not only severely physically disabled, they are all dependent on ventilators! It is an incredible sight to see them interacting in our ecological environment here at SALM. They come with their families, nurses, friends etc. and they also come with a host of young teenage volunteers (POTENTIAL FUTURE SALM MENTORS!!!!) who are from the local area and who spend the entire week with these really cool kids. By the way, this is their 20th anniversary year and they have been coming to SALM for the last 15. To schedule as a volunteer contact Mitzi ston via email at mitzi@... or call x115. Shake-A-Leg Miami VACC camp outing is form 9:30 to 3:30 pm with a volunteer report time of 8:45 AM.
