Guest guest
Hello......Jumping in here...... yes, that's who takes her son to..... and also where I take my daughter, Katera. I agree.... 's a gem. Patti - ending diet and a question for you , I have to ask you where you live? You mentioned and Dr. S, is that Portland, OR? If it is, it's the same who helped us our last year on the diet. She really is good at fine tuning, and bought us one extra year on the diet. I just wanted to say, just know that you have done all you possibly can, and that it's nothing you can help, when you've reached the end of the diet like this. We were finally to a point in '99 with , after 4 years on the diet, when no amount of fine tuning would help. also reached the point where she does better on a modified version, the more water and snacks she has through the day, the better she does. Almost like her body was fighting it. Take care and hang in there, Kandy 11, former keto kid 2/96-10/99, seizure free the first year, fine tuned next 3, now on modified, with lamictal and doing fairly well. Idaho "The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last resort!" List is for parent to parent support only. It is important to get medical advice from a professional keto team! Guest guest
I know..... she does have a personal e-mail address but she rarely gets online.... thinks she is scared she'll get "sucked in"... could be right! LOL But, I have let her know how highly we all regard her..... and that Dr. Schimschock is sometimes referred to on this list as "The Successful Dr. S"! , in September Dr. S is moving to OHSU/Doernbecher...... and hopefully, although things seem to be a bit up in the air right now, is following him. I don't see how he could do the diet without her! She needs to be training someone else, too..... just in case she got struck by lightening or something (God forbid!). Guest guest
Patti, I am excited about them moving to OHSU. Dr. Bill Connor, a lipids disorder specialist and cardiologist, and his wife, Sonya, a dietician, are there. Bill and Sonya have helped tremendously. When his cholesterol and triglycerides went sky high Dr. S and wanted to take him off the diet because they had never seen numbers that high and didn't know what to do. Bill and Sonya have been learning about the diet as they have cooperated with Dr. S. and to help and at least one other child on the diet who also had lipid problems. I am excited to think that they may be able to work together more--the four of them make a good team. Things work out in funny ways. The day last August that I found out what 's lipids numbers were, I called over twenty doctors to try to find help for him. None of them would even let me bring him into their office. They said that they had no idea what to do, or even what the risks were. I am a United Methodist minister, and Bill and Sonya just happen to be members of my church. I called them in desperation, and of course they agreed to help. How ironic that in our whole area, Bill and his partner are the only people who could help . They are the only lipids disorder specialists between Seattle and San Francisco.
