Also feeling incredibly depressed. Its been very rainy this summer and I bet that has something to do with this.I was just diagnosed with RA last week, and my meds haven't been changed yet. Once you start on meds for your RA, hopefully you will feel better. We'll be praying for you. Rest as much as you can. It helped when I was flaring so badly several weeks ago and all the lectures from the others were heeded then...and since I am feeling the body increasingly being more and more fatigued, I guess I better add that to my list as well...GET MORE REST. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{FONDA}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Jane .. Guest guest Posted July 23, 2003 Report Share Posted July 23, 2003 Thanks. Yeah, I've been on Effexor for years. I see the Rheumy again in about 2 weeks.Guess they will change my meds now. She wants me to start on Neurontin, but I'm not sure I want to. I tried it before and it really made me dizzy. She also increased my Plaquenil-this was all before the new lab results were back. I'm really tired of new meds. Also, I really need to lose weight, and all these meds are making me fatter and fatter.Whine, whine. Guest guest Posted July 23, 2003 Report Share Posted July 23, 2003 Fonda, I'm also not blessed to be one that doesn't eat when they are depressed...I keep eating thinking that something will make me feel better. As far as the exercise is concerned, even that is a 2 edge sword with me. I'm told I should exercise because of the knee replacements...so I do water aerobics 3 - 4 times a week for 45 min - an hour. I went 2 days in a row this week and today I could barely get in and out of the car...I had to go back to icing the knees when I got up so I skipped aerobics today. Maybe I'll try doing just 30 minutes tomorrow. I do notice that the water feels so good on the joints when I'm in it but it's not without its problems cause you can overdo it there too. I was lucky--the only med that made me gain weight was the Nortryptyline. I know the Neurontin does for some, but it hasn't for me. Guest guest Posted July 24, 2003 Report Share Posted July 24, 2003 Fonda--I don't know if you have a swimming pool available, but my s-i-l who has severe RA goes to the Y three mornings a week to swim. She's found that the pain eases with regular exercise, and the swimming doesn't put any strain on the joints so it's a good exercise for her. So I'm having to do without RA meds, so I told my primary doc about it and he's seeing that I get enough pain pills. I really feel like slapping my rheumy next time I see him for that.
