Guest guest
I know it sounds silly and anti-IE, but a few posts here talking about dividing one's food into halves or fourths got me to thinking about portion control. I've read a few studies that say when people have larger portions put in front of them, they eat more than when they are offered smaller portions--even if they can have seconds. People will take more pieces of candy out of a large candy dish than a small candy dish. Let's not forget the supersize phenomenon either. Restaurant portions are unreasonably large and it's really hard to resist the clean plate mindset without getting into a diet mentality of " I can only eat half " . Quite clearly, our eyes have as much influence on how much we eat as our stomachs do. So, is it okay to practive portion control with IE? When fixing dinner, is it okay to give yourself a palm-sized piece of chicken with a half-cup of rice and a bunch of vegetables with the understanding that you can have more if you're still hungry? How do we overcome the supersize portions at restaurants and the urge to keep eating even though we're full just because it's there or just because it tastes so darned good? What do you think about portion control and IE?
