Guest guest
We have found it cheaper to purchase a van and then have it adapted. If you want more specifics, email me privately. Cheri
Guest guest
Hi Merril, My husband was pricing used full sized adapted vans (about 5 years old) and they were priced at around $40,000. Personally I don't like mini-vans (too much like a car) and I wouldn't put a lift in a mini-van, but that's just me. I suppose a brand new van for $40,000 isn't that bad when compared to a 5 year old full sized one. If you like it and it's what you need and your gut says buy it, then go for it! ) Sue ( & Jack)-worn out parents to the greatest kids on earth-- Chris-8: Leigh's Disease, MR (mild), hypotonia, non-walker/talker -7: Leigh's Disease, MR (mild), hypotonia, non-walker/talker, trach tube (tracheomalasia), g-tube/fundo http://jscb.home.mindspring.com
Guest guest
Hi Sue ( & Jack)... Thanks for the response. I know how busy you must be with the kids and appreciate the fact that you took the time to answer my yell for help! We are small car people, so the mini is preferred for us. And since our youngest " kid " is 35, we are not hauling kids around except for the occasional grandkid invasion which has become less and less because it wears me out so much. But with the van and my scooter, we may be able to go to their turf more often. My husband has Alzheimer's (AD) so that is an additional complication. He does not drive parkways, turnpikes, etc., any more, nor does he drive very long distances. We will have to find something I can manage on my own when necessary. Your info on full sized vans is helpful because of the comparison. Thanks again....hope you are having a good day...and bless you... Guest guest
Hi Merril, Well now I can understand about you wanting a smaller van. ) With the boys we don't really have a choice in the matter. I don't think a mini-van would even hold both chairs!! ) I still say if your gut says this van is the one for you then go for it. You only live once. ) Good luck and let us all know what you decided on. ) Take care... Guest guest
Merril, I am a dealer for Braun and the entervan. The prices quoted to you are " right on " . In my experience, I would stick with the Chrysler product. Nor because there is anything wrong with the ford, but the drop van conversions in the chrysler minivans have been around longer and I feel are more " perfected " . In any case the Entervan conversion is the best on the market. We have distributed some other brand conversions, but have dropped all in favor of the Braun entervan. One of the reasons we like all braun products so much is that they are user-friendly. Ralph Braun, who started and still owns the company is in a chair and started by designing for himself when many years ago when there was nothing on the market for him. They are a super company to do business with. We handle all of their products not to mention Bruno lifts, crow river lifts, bruno stair climbers, invacare chairs, and almost anything in the mobility and rehab fields. Joe Marshall JMarsh1229@... Guest guest
Cheri..... Thanks for van info....I'm a little late responding and I do apologize! We ended up with a '99 Ford Windstar with electric ramp and door because it is very possible that I will have to manage completely on my own in the not too distant future. My husband is almost 72, so it wasn't really early AD (first sx about 4-5 yrs ago). He is otherwise quite healthy and worked for the phone company (as a systems tech -- also called a lineman) until he was 62; he was climbing poles in all kinds of weather until he retired. sounds like you really have your hands full. Hope things are going as well as possible!!!! Thanks again for the info.... Merril
