Guest guest
hi friends, i am 1 week post op from c6,7 spine surgery. they removed 2 tumors and a cyst completely - whoo hoo. i am feeling a bt more human, less sore and finally got a solid nights sleep. there were so many pleasant difference w/ this surgery, i still find it awesome. i put a ton of worry into it. my main fear was the IMMENSE pain that i'd had with other surgeries. this 1 was almost pain free from day 1! my 1st c spine surgery was 18 hours! this one was only 4.5! my dr has improved his speed lol. i tell him in 5 years he shud have it down to 2 hours! in the past, i had to check into hospital the day b4 so theycud probe you thoroughly for 24 hrs before they wake you at 5 AM to go to surgery. this time, i went 4 pre op a week ahead, and all they did was blood work and paper work. they said i was healthy and not even need the ekg, lung xrays etc. then all i had to do was show up at 615 am, and they took me in. past surgeries i remember laying there b4 they put u under and it was terrifying. 15 masked people scurrying over u, sticking tubes anywhere they can find a hole etc. this time, only dr and anasesthia guy, whom both looked quite handsome, came in, acting very human and making me less nervous. then poof i was asleep. in past upon waking up, id throw up, this time not! also, theyd never give u anything to relieve the dryness in mouth. this time, within minutes the nurse SIGNED , " WOUlD U LIKE SOME APPLE JUICE? " very cool indeed. ok, then my 1st night was in icu, all private rooms! mynurse was an angel, she signed fluently. and was there every waking second. the next 2 days flew by and dr said go home! i expected at least 5 to 6 days in. was home on day 4! past surgery was 16 days! my right hand is VERY weak, but i am still happy. i can walk and hope to get a little better. hell id wear a brace on arm any day. so for anyone facing surgery, i just want to quote jennette b when she said , " surgery sure ain't what it used to be! I still feel inside this is gonna be a ok one fior me too. In previous surgeries I was a total wreck from the moment I heard I had one coming. Did they have to do a spinal tap??
