Guest guest
Hello! I've been reading many posts daily for about 2 weeks now and have learned much from all of you. My child just turned 3 and we finished Round 1 of Chelation yesterday. Our doctor has us using DMSA only and I was giving my son 1 ml 3X per day for 3 days (3 days on, 11 days off). On the bottle it says it is " 100 MG/ML suspension. " It is a tangerine flavored liquid. My son weighs 38.5 pounds. Does this dosage sound appropriate? My son did not have too bad a time, really. He stimmed here and there, but he does that normally anyway. He did seem to stare off more and put his fingers on his eyes and he'd whimper/cry a few times. He slept longer during the night too. Other than that, I haven't noticed any real positive or negative changes in him. Is it better to give the DMSA at any particular time of the day, like with food or on an empty stomach? I also only gave him vitamins and took him off the minerals (both from BrainChild Nutritionals) during the chelation period. I would certainly like to hear from some of you who have already been where I am at and what worked for you. Thanks for all I've already learned and for reading my post. I think the dose rate is 10mg/kg? you should check with the FAQ files and the like or others posts Im new to this and checking it out for us. Right now my son has been fighting a strep infection and the antibiotics have pretty much negated all we had been trying to do for getting the intestinal flora back in balance. Im not new to the math. I can help with the math with that (.454 kilograms in 1 lb) 38.5lbs x .454= 17.479 ~ 17.5kilograms you son weighs about 17.5 kilograms How many mg are needed? assuming the 10mg/kg rate 10mg x mg -------- = -------- = 175mg needed 1kg 17.5kg " the bottle it says it is " 100 MG/ML suspension. " 1ml x ml ----- = ------ = 1.75ml dose needed for 38.5lb individual at a 10mg/kg rate 100mg 175mg Best Wishes Caleb's Dad

Guest guest
Hello Tammy, welcome to this corner of the world. We have had quite a number of people who have said they are new recently. It is nice. >Hello! I've been reading many posts daily for about 2 weeks now and >have learned much from all of you. My child just turned 3 and we >finished Round 1 of Chelation yesterday. Our doctor has us using >DMSA only and I was giving my son 1 ml 3X per day for 3 days (3 days >on, 11 days off). On the bottle it says it is " 100 MG/ML >suspension. " It is a tangerine flavored liquid. My son weighs 38.5 >pounds. Does this dosage sound appropriate? First the easy part: recommended dose is 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound per dose. Now the hard part: 100 mg per/ml; you are giving 1 ml; oh, that is NOT hard: you are giving 100 mg per dose to kid who weighs 38 pounds. So, that is about 3 mg per pound per dose, or about 6 times the about Andy recommends. (The 1/8 to 1/2 mg I quoted is Andy's recommendation.) But don't feel bad or hate your doctor--- mostly I think doctors are using either the PDR or the DAN! protocol, in which case the dose they say to use is much higher than what Andy recommends. Welcome to the world of controversial issues about chelation. It can be confusing, but please don't ever think you are alone in this case. We all sort it out and decide what to do, and (often) talk about it a lot in the process. Feel free. You can read more about Andy and what he thinks about DMSA dosage and so forth here: /files/ANDY_INDEX > My son did not have too >bad a time, really. He stimmed here and there, but he does that >normally anyway. He did seem to stare off more and put his fingers >on his eyes and he'd whimper/cry a few times. He slept longer during >the night too. Yeah, it is better to give it to him every 4 hours, INCLUDING AT NIGHT. With food or no food doesn't matter. This " at night " thing is very controversial too, but just keep reading (and a few deep breaths maybe?) It is kinda amazing to me that in spite of the difficulty of this method and in spite of the popular opinion (e.g. from DAN!, doctors, etc) that it doesn't matter, a lot of people on this list persist in using every 4 hours. Haven't done any surveys on how many, but there are many who waken to timers in the wee hours. > I also only gave him vitamins and >took him off the minerals (both from BrainChild Nutritionals) during >the chelation period. > >I would certainly like to hear from some of you who have already been >where I am at and what worked for you. > >Thanks for all I've already learned and for reading my post. Since I'm a rather verbose and frequent writer on the list, I'll also mention that I don't have any kids-- I'm a mercury toxic adult, and doing chelation on mySELF. (I wake up with a timer at night.) I say this pretty often, so you may have already come across this fact in reading for 2 weeks. (This explains why I don't talk about my kid, for example .) best wishes, Moria
Guest guest
Tammy, 3x a day is not a good thing. Every four hours is much better. Some people can get by with the every 8 hours, but the majority of kids do much better on a four-hour regime. Also, I believe the optimal dose is 1/8 to 1/2 mg. per pound. Guest guest
Thanks to those who have responded! Thanks too, for figuring out the dosage per pound/kg, ! So then, it looks like I didn't give enough at each dose? Could this be why he didn't act that much different during the chelation period? (I was giving 1 ML 3X/day.) So if 1.75ML is what I should give 3X/day, what should it be every 4 hours?? I'm sorry for still " not getting it " and with asking more about the doses... I'm still very confused how all this works. I did read Andy's section of past posts regarding chelating, dosing times, etc., and now am scared I may have sent more mercury to the brain! Also, being that this 1st chelation round may not have been good, should I start Round 2 sooner than waiting the 11 days? Thanks very much for all your help! You didn't give too much. (um, if I remember right.) The dose Andy recommends is 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound of child per dose, every 4 hours. If using ALA it is every 3 hours. >I'm sorry for still " not getting it " and with asking more about the >doses... I'm still very confused how all this works. I did read >Andy's section of past posts regarding chelating, dosing times, etc., >and now am scared I may have sent more mercury to the brain! Sorry to tell you, but worrying won't help. (Actually I'm happy to point this out, and hope that you will decide to drop this issue entirely.) >Also, being that this 1st chelation round may not have been good, >should I start Round 2 sooner than waiting the 11 days? I would still wait at least 4 days. You are waiting to give body some time off. It needs this regardless of what schedule you used. Oh--- regarding " not getting it " -- please ask more questions about whatever you want. (But I may just refer you back to Andy's past posts. hummmm.) best, Moria

I dont think you should give that amount necessarily. I am new to this and I here to try to get an understanding of the process of chelation myself. The math part I do know. However, I DONT think I have the initial dosage right (10mg/kg). Someone like Andy could be exact for you. The factor for the math would still be similar. As in milliliter of liquid? DMSA is not stable in liquids for more than a day or two. > > I'm sorry for still " not getting it " and with asking more about the > doses...
