My pleasure Sally. I'm doing Ok, thanks. Sometimes a little nausea and

weakness after dialysis, but other than that, it's going relatively well. I

was just told to increase the potassium in my diet, so that's a plus.

I believe tomatoes are a no no, and I would really miss them.

Good Luck.

Hello Connie,

Thanks for that and you're right....how long is quickly. Actually in the

past with the other meds I've noticed a change in about a week so that's

what I was expecting here but, I take Pierre's points and will wait and see

what the Neph says in April.

Bye for now,

Sally.

Re: Blood Type???

Thanks so much for this chart. I never knew 0- was that rare! Guess that's

what the local blood bank is always hounding me.

It depends. For most people on dialysis, as long as the daily potassium

doesn't add up to 1500-2000mg, you can eat some (like a slice or two). Most

foods don't have to be sworn off forever.

Luckily for me, I appear to be retaining the kidney function I had going in.

Marty, Thanks for your reply, but I'm not that sensitive so I didn't take it

as criticism.

Keep in touch! :) Connie

I have donated my rare blood for 20 years, and I am A-. The blood bank knows I

have Igan and the prospects are only positive. I enjoy the regular B.P. check

up.

First Time I heard of someone being refused, unless they have very high B.P. !!!

Pete.

Yes, thanks and Pierre for the information on blood types. I have a

question for the board, does anyone with IgAN donate blood? I'm AB Positive

(as your chart shows, not to many people with AB pos) and they will never

let me donate and I've tried many times because of the fact that I know it's

a little rare.

I'm not really sure if it's to protect me because of the kidney disease or

because it's considered an auto immune disease and they feel that it could

somehow be transferred.

Any one know? Connie, USA
