Exercise for me may be cleaning, laundry (putting clothes outside to dry), gardening/yardwork, etc. Exercising before a meal doesn't help my bg's. Usually on Tuesdays and Fridays I meet my husband for lunch. I have a low carb breakfast. Lunch is higher carb since I know I'll be doing a lot of walking after eating, walking in the mall, grocery shopping, etc. (this is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hrs). I always park as far away from the entrance as possible. If I have extra carbs for dinner, I'll get on the treadmill for 10 minutes. These are some things that work for me. Others on the list, how are you staying in control: meds, insulin, nutrition/exercise? Eunice
Guest guest
Hi Eunice, right now I am controlling with faith in the Lord, diet and exercise. I go back to my dr. after my last class this Tuesday to discuss further what to do. So far my ranges have been good, but today was bad, I was at a party for a friend, birthday, I didn't have cake, but I ate a whole sandwhich and cookies my bs after 1 hr. walk is 140, it was 175. It's been pretty good all weekend average around 120 with a really low of 76 the other morning. Dottie

You are doing great. Keep up the good work. We know you don't have a sandwich and cookies every day! LOL. I can have a sandwich for lunch if I'm very active afterwards. I make my own honey wheat bread. I modified the recipe - cutting back on bread flour and adding more wheat flour and also cutting back on the amount of honey. Guest guest
My usual routine is to walk 2 miles about 30 minutes after breakfast. If BS is higher than I think it should be after lunch or dinner I walk either 1 or 2 miles depending on how well the BS drops. Walking is the way I keep BS within a non-diabetic range after meals. Some food choices I know will be o.k. and others I know will be questionable so test and then walk. I control via diet/exercise only. Guest guest
Attitude and faith in God come first then the exercise/ diet!! Takes a positive attitude and faith to sustain us along our path to control. Guest guest
> Others on the list, how are you staying in control: meds, insulin, > nutrition/exercise? > I also control with exercise/nutrition. I was 112 today. This is about perfect for me. If I get below 100 I get shakey. I like to be around 140. Two days ago I was 82 -- did not feel well at all! Was moody and nervous all day. Was 134 the next a.m. and felt great! Was also 134 yesterday morning (love it when I'm consistent). Today was 112. That's about as low as I want to get. With my meter registering a bit higher than most others -- I feel this is good for me (brings me to about 100 actual bsl). Amazing considering I was 180 earlier last week But that falls into the pattern I mentioned in my posting last week. Ann
