Guest guest
Hi Folks, I've been at this for over 20 years without drugs. Three days ago I added 500 mg of Niacin and 500mg mag.stearate. That is in addition to my normal B-complex and Benfiothaimine ( B-1). Very definite improvement in muscle control and leg strength. Especially during the time that the Niacin gives that flush . Will keep you posted. Regards, Tom
Guest guest
Hi Betty, I made a mistake. It is not " Stearate " it is phosphorus. The difference between niacin and niacinamide is that the latter is supposed to eliminate the flush. From what I read, it is a fatty acid made from animal or vegetable fat and used for various heavy metal compounds or in the pharmaceutical industry to make capsules and many other things. Does the body absorb it better in this form? The new study results which I'm sure you have read about MS and B3 state nicotinamide is the form of niacin used and results obtained with 3-6 grams. How does niacin differ from nicotinamide? I'm intrigued by the possibility of the niacin as another vitamin to try for MS, but would like to see some discussion on the milligrams/grams tried by those here. What about slow release niacin in the 1,000 mg range? Anyone tried this? Most vitamins work in synergy with others, does anyone know the effects of taking too much niacin and/or what other vitamins should one take with it. Thank you all for any input.....Betty
Guest guest
Hi Tom. Niacinamide is also a precurser for niacin. There are studies being done with niacinamide and the effects it has on MS. I took a liquid B-12, B-complex yesterday, no flush. I took it again this morning and my face and neck were on fire! I guess that means I'm saturated with B's. It didn't last long and felt sort-of interesting. My ears were red! tbayuk wrote: Hi Betty, I made a mistake. It is not " Stearate " it is phosphorus. Guest guest
I too started niacin. Just this morning at 7:30 am. Not from reading this but from the vit b3 report on web md. I used a niacin that I bought at trader joe's, sustained release 500 mg formula. Got the niacin flush. My face felt like it was beating like a heart. Then I got up to check my color in a mirror. I walk to the bathroom with out using the wall to stabilize myself. I felt great! Then it wore off, but overall I still feel better the rest of the day. I can't wait till tomorrow morning! I know I shouldn't have too high of hopes, but I felt good. --- tbayuk wrote: > Hi Folks, > I've been at this for over 20 years without drugs. Guest guest
, When I get the " Flush " is when I notice the most significant improvement...lasts about 3 hours. Guest guest
Hi Tom. I had the same amazing results. Mine didn't last long either. I think I'll take niacin by itself several times a day, the B-complex just once. I read Saul's report that niacin flush is the saturation point and the body should remain saturated. Did you take niacin throughout the day? tbayuk wrote: , When I get the " Flush " is when I notice the most significant improvement...lasts about 3 hours. Guest guest
Hi , If you take your Niacin in the inositol hexaniacinate form it is safer and does not cause skin flushing and is less likely to cause liver damage. You know I do not buy or sell vitamins, I've studied Vitamins now for 30 years, so hope this information is of some help.
Guest guest
, No, I have not taken it throughout the day but am definitely looking into that. Guest guest
Hi , B complex is very good for healthy people, with MS you will find they don't have enough of the mg's we need, I take B complex plus B12 plus B6 and B1. You can find many books on alternatives for MS. The BBD has a good list of vitamins we need and how much we need and why. Thank you for the link, very interesting but again for the fit. . Thanks . I didn't get flushed today when I took the B-12/B complex. I took it with food and only once today. I didn't have the same super-powers either. I found an article that talks about inisitol hexaniacinate that was interesting. http://www.thorne.com/altmedrev/fulltext/inositol1-3.html I had never heard of it before.
