Interesting! I was tested for a particular gene that reveals a

predisposition to Lupus. I didn't have it, and my rheumatologist was

pleased. He diagnosed RA. I'm sure he felt that was a less potentially

life threatening diagnosis than Lupus. Since then I have been diagnosed

with SLE/RA overlap or Rhupus as it's sometimes called. I, myself, had

hoped it was 'just' a toxic response and would 'go away' with time! Not so!

I know a lot of women see MD's for evaluation and treatment but I do not.

My ND handles all of my healthcare needs, including medication if necessary.

He can prescribe prescription meds but I prefer herbal products. He handles

all of my routine wellness, including all lab reports. I do see a

gynecologist for my annual exam, only because ND's are not permitted to do

female exams in my state. Aside from emergency care, I have little use for

an MD.

Kenda,

Sounds like you have the best of both worlds. Wish I had one like

that here, preferably a female.

Lynda,

I just love my ND and it does work out well. On the rare opportunity that I

need a prescription drug, he can order it for me. He's a pharmacologist as

well as an ND so he knows prescription drugs and their side affects very

well.

Boy, she would have fallen on the floor had she seen my supplement list!! :)

I'm glad your BP is lower today. Did they make any recommendations? Is

your weight and cholesterol pretty high?

There are supplements that can bring down your BP but I'd be reluctant to

recommend them until you have more information. One supplement worked

wonders for my husband's BP, which was dangerously high at one point. It

has been perfect since he started taking it. His BP also climbs when he

goes to the doctor's office. They call it White Coat BP.

I agree with this! Have you all noticed the difference in taste, also?

I buy free range chicken without the antibiotics and such at Whole Foods. It

TASTES better

than the chicken I used to buy at the local grocery. It is well worth the

difference in cost.

I eat organic whenever I can, but not 100%.

Yes - One huge difference in my attitude is that I no longer believe an MD

because of the

title. I don't know if I ever did, but I used to be far more trusting than I

am now. I have

some serious questions about the medical training of MDs these days. I also

question the

motivation of many.

I guess I am a bit soured on doctors, that is true. Some, of course, are better

than others.

I always do research now - on whatever medication/treatment I am taking as well

as the

doctor's credentials and background.

Being scorned on MD's doesn't explain your negativity towards ND's and

natural medicine. If you always do research, then you should know that the

supplements and therapies we discuss here are safe and very effective. Have

you ever treated with an ND before? I think if you treated with a good one,

you'd change your mind. :)

Yes, free range chicken really does taste better. I get it at my

local grocery store now, used to have to go to Whole Foods, Wild

Oats, or Vitamin Cottage.

-Kenda,

Since eating healthy I have only lost 4 lbs, I weigh 168, am 5'1.

Last year after explant I got down to 155 which was fine with me. I

would be happy with that, I have posted that since eating healthy my

cholesterol has jumped 40 points, no explanation. My PCD gave me a

scrip for cholesrtramine which I asked for. It supposedly binds the

toxins and helps eliminate them, on the jar it says it binds the bad

cholesterol from the arteries and removes them lowering your

cholesterol.I found this info on a MD website that talks about toxins

and obesity.

Wow, that is odd that you have only lost 4 pounds. Do you mind me asking

what you eat in a typical day? Have you increased your activity level, ie

exercise? Healthful eating should definitely make it easier to drop weight.

Kenda,

In the morning I eat activa, or heart smart oatmeal with no milk, for

lunch I usually eat plain no salt deli turkey 2 pieces with a cup of

veggies plain, for dinner a small piece of chicken, steamed veggies

or salad, maybe 3 times a week half a cup brown rice, for snack 1/2

organic now fat frozen yogurt,I usually jump everday for 20 min. on

my mini trampoline jogging stlye. Oh and water all day long. That is

what I eat sometimes i do cheat and have (1) 100 calorie snack

pack. That is no fat o cholesterol. Sometimes I have lean cuisine for

breakfast and maybe 1 cup of no salt soup chicken and veggies. I

snack on carrots or fresh veggies. I even ride my bike 3 or 4times a

week if my joints aren't bothering me.

Wow, Terri, I am really surprised you aren't losing weight. You are barely

eating enough to exist! The only thing I can think of is that you aren't

eating enough and your body is holding onto fat because it thinks it is

starving. This actually happened to my husband when he would eat very

little. It seemed like he was growing, despite the minimal intake of food.

This actually happens to me too. I can eat like a bird and still not lose weight. It is because our metabolism is slowed down, if we are not exercising or doing anything to stimulate the metabolism to get revved. I think it is also just a problem with the implant experience. So many women gain weight, and they cannot seem to get it off. There may be undiagnosed food issues too, such as celiac or gluten intolerance, or other food allergies. All of these can keep us in a cycle of inability to lose weight easily. I am no expert, that is for sure, but I can certain identify with anyone who eats so little and still can't lose weight! That's been me for the past 2 years. I am hoping this gluten free diet will be key for me, along with more exercise.
