Guest guest
I was reading up on hormones and found this. I had no idea that progesterone was converted into corticosteroids by the adrenals??? Anyone ever hear of this? Does this mean if one is having adrenal problems, that natural progesterone would help or further tax the adrenals? http://www.tidesoflife.com/differences.htm
Guest guest
That is very interesting because when I had my tests done that showed adrenal burnout my progesterone was very low also. hmmmmm...... Guest guest
Hi , From cholesterol we make Progesterone, and then the Progesterone is used by the adrenals to make Cortisol. A lot of times women (like me) who are going through Peri-menopause do not make enough Progesterone for the adrenals to use to convert to Cortisol. So we can have low Cortisol levels from that alone. When that happens, we may end up with our receptors not able to accept the Thyroid hormones our thyroid puts out, and we will manifest hypothyroid symptoms as a result. When we correct our Progesterone levels, our Cortisol levels are also corrected because our adrenals now have the material with which to make more Cortisol, and then the Cortisol in turn can correct our Thyroid function if we are hypo. That's why it's a good idea to get Cortisol levels tested at the same time as thyroid and all sex hormones for a more complete picture of what's going on. Of course that is assuming that our adrenals are not so smashed and crashed that they can't even MAKE Cortisol from our Progesterone anymore. If our adrenals are that bad, then we have to heal them first and just keep supplementing with Progesterone (if we are low on it) and Cortisol and Armour, etc. --- " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. Guest guest
: I started using progesterone creme when I was 38 and had PMS. I have used it or Prometrium since. I just did not realize it was related to cortisol. Docs seem to think it is not a particularly important hormone to replace. I asked my ob/gyn for it and she prescribed synthetic. I told her I would not use synthetic and would like natural and she got huffy and said that there was no difference. I just get sick of gaining weight. Seems like the progesterone made me gains a bit of weight and when I got that down with growth hormone I had all the stress and Lyme going on and no cortisol left. Then after my surgery medrol or HC or something made me fat. Am excercising every day but it sure was easier to put on then get off. -- Re: interaction with corticosteroids Hi , From cholesterol we make Progesterone, and then the Progesterone is used by the adrenals to make Cortisol. Guest guest
: I am iodine deficient and use Iodoral or Lugols. I did do the iodine deficient test, the patch was gone in about 12 hours.. All my hormones usually come back low and I have been using Armour for a few months. My temps are just not consistently low. I am trying to track how I feel more frequently and it seems I feel worse in my house and much worse on days where it is humid. My dentist and my hyperbaric doc have both said that many people react to the mold in the air. I did quit that ob/gyn. Many docs seem very resistant to anything other than what they know and do not feel like finding out. I saw that so much with my dad's treatment. -- Re: interaction with > corticosteroids > > Hi , > > From cholesterol we make Progesterone, and then the > Progesterone is used by the adrenals to make > Cortisol. > > A lot of times women (like me) who are going through > Peri-menopause do not make enough Progesterone for > the > adrenals to use to convert to Cortisol. > > So we can have low Cortisol levels from that alone. > > When that happens, we may end up with our receptors > not able to accept the Thyroid hormones our thyroid > puts out, and we will manifest hypothyroid symptoms > as > a result. > > When we correct our Progesterone levels, our > Cortisol > levels are also corrected because our adrenals now > have the material with which to make more Cortisol, > and then the Cortisol in turn can correct our > Thyroid > function if we are hypo. > > That's why it's a good idea to get Cortisol levels > tested at the same time as thyroid and all sex > hormones for a more complete picture of what's going > on. > > Of course that is assuming that our adrenals are not > so smashed and crashed that they can't even MAKE > Cortisol from our Progesterone anymore. Guest guest
I think everyone fails the patch test. The patch disappeared on my arm after eight hours after taking Iodoral for a couple of months. Is there any reputable scientific evidence for this test? " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. Guest guest
I dont think the patch test is very scientific, though I do know people who have taken the test and it didnt dissappear in 24 hours. I think the key is to see how fast it fades and if it's really rapid, than you should for sure get the urine test. I just ordered it. I wouldn't add iodine unless I got the urine test first. I think it's important to have a baseline test before starting iodine, so you can track your progress. SAMMIE --- wrote: > I think everyone fails the patch test. Guest guest
Hi , Which do you prefer, the Iodoral or the Lugols, and why? Same here with feeling worse when it's humid, I'm heat intolerant so humidity makes it worse and makes me feel dragged down and uncomfortable. Around here it's like a sauna, can see the heat waves in the air and the humidity is always so high. Really should get a dehumidifier - I say that every summer but never seem to get around to it. We had one when I was a kid, and it was great. I didn't think about mold, but that could be too. There are a lot of weird swamp spores here too and sometimes I get burning watering eyes from it, especially at night when some weird swamp flower out there opens up. No, Im not in Florida, I think that's . I'm in Southeastern Virginia on the coast. --- " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. " wrote: > : > > I am iodine deficient and use Iodoral or Lugols. Guest guest
: I am feeling like I should move to a place with less humidity. Of course we would all want to live in that nice favorite vacation spot but I am doing a kitchen remodel and bathroom remodel and wondering if I am wasting too much money since I could move. No plans to and will start a new job, but the humidity gets very old. It is very frequent here, near Galveston, TX. -- Re: interaction with corticosteroids Hi , Which do you prefer, the Iodoral or the Lugols, and why?
