Mine were writing letters at age one. Some believe that certain misfunctions in

the brain cause the brain to work extra fast, which can cause nerve death, but

they appear intelligent from this fast pace. My kids were writing without

talking at age 1 and 2, and barely talking at age 3. But my other children on

the spectrum did not do these letters and numbers obsessions.

The two that did, focused on letters and numbers way too much, and it's beleived

to be from Strep and/or Bartonella because treatment for these decreases their

obsessions for letters and numbers. Some professionals will diagnose it as

hyperlexia. If your child is just learning, but not focusing on letters and

numbers obsessively, than that is different. Some with autism can type on a

computer, and sound like geniuses, with perfect grammer, large words, etc., but

then not talk, nor socialize. There are lots of variances in those with autism.
