Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm just getting started on my HC, this is the first week. I'm wondering something about starting on Thyroid. After I get my adrenals supported before beginning to take care of my Thyroid, does anyone think Iodoral is good to try before starting on Armour? I know Iodoral may kick my Thyroid up into producing more Thyroid hormones - and I'm Hashi's so that worries me a little. Would it be better to just forego the Iodoral and start right in on the Armour? Or no? Here are my test results with ranges again, if that will help anyone with giving me advice on this: Cortisols x 4 (Saliva): - Morning: 3.0 (range 3 - 8) - Noon: 0.6 (range 2 - 4) - Evening: 0.5 (range 1 - 2) - Night: 0.5 (range 0.5 - 1.5) - DHEA's (Saliva): 18.9 (range 3 - 10) Never taken DHEA supplements, possibly high in response to being insulin resistant and low cortisols? - Thyroid Results (Blood Spot): - Free T4: 1.6 (range 0.7 - 2.5, Optimal 1-2) - Free T3: 2.1 (range 2.5 - 6.5, Optimal 3-4) - TSH: 1.9 (range 0.5 - 3.0, Optimal 0.5-2) - TPO: 179 (range 0 - 150; 70-150 Borderline) Thanks! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I think you would be much better off with just taking Armour to begin with. You have very low T3 and that is so necessary to feel well. With Hashi's you need to be cautious with Iodine supplementation and your adrenal;l situation is pretty bad so I would get some Armour in you first and then see how you feel. If you are having trouble optimizing with Armour then I would try the Iodine slowly. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Ok thanks Val. That's what I was a little worried about with the Iodoral, it kicking up my Thyroid with Hashi's. I'll go with the Armour first after getting my adrenals supported. I haven't started on the Armour yet because I've just this past week begun the HC. So I'm just at the very beginning now. Today my HC is up to 5/ 2.5/ 2.5/ 2.5 Considering my lab results? I'm thinking I'll be needing maybe 20-25 mg. or even 30 mg. a day of HC. I can see how I feel at 20 and at 25 and then also after I begin the Armour. For how long should I be on the HC at 20-25 mg. before beginning the Armour? 2 weeks? A month? What amount of Armour would be good to start on, given my lab results? Should I try 1/4 first or 1/8th? How long to wait before increasing it after that? Thanks very much, Cortisols x 4 (Saliva): - Morning: 3.0 (range 3 - 8) - Noon: 0.6 (range 2 - 4) - Evening: 0.5 (range 1 - 2) - Night: 0.5 (range 0.5 - 1.5) -------------------------------- Thyroid Results (Blood Spot): - Free T4: 1.6 (range 0.7 - 2.5, Optimal 1-2) - Free T3: 2.1 (range 2.5 - 6.5, Optimal 3-4) - TSH: 1.9 (range 0.5 - 3.0, Optimal 0.5 - 2) - TPO: 179 (range 0 - 150; 70-150 Borderline) --- wrote: > I think you would be much better off with just > taking Armour to begin > with. Cortisol utilized the thyroid hormones you have so you will be needing some, but start no more than 1 grain (60MG). and work up from there. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
You could probably start on Armour, 1/4 grain at wake up and 1/4 grain at lunchtime, right now. If that doesn't work for you, you can divide that even further with 1/8 grain doses, more often. You'll need to increase by 1/4 grain every 1-3 weeks, depending on how you do with it and your cortisol, and when you get hypo symptoms returning or new ones popping in. deborah JD wrote: > Ok thanks Val. Guest guest
Thanks Deborah for the starting dosage info and the increase info, but due to a very bad past experience I'm going to wait on starting on the Armour until I've got my adrenals as supported as possible. Back in the early 1990's I had gone from Dr. to Dr. with all the usual idiocy from them, and finally found a Broda doctor who actually listened to me and my symptoms and decided I was hypothyroid. Unfortunately, he made a big mistake in not checking my adrenals first before putting me on Armour (I don't remember the dosage of Armour he started me on), and I ended up on the floor in a really, really bad thyroid storm. At that point I just gave up on finding any doctors at all who could help me. I never went back and never took any medications after that. It was really a very bad experience, that thyroid storm was. I thought I was dying. Now at 47 I can't ignore it anymore. I'm pretty sick, 100 pounds overweight, insulin resistant. I'm also going through Perimenopause(which is being treated with Bio-Id Progesterone very happy with the results on that.) I don't want to repeat that thyroid storm though, so I'm going to be EXTRA careful about starting on the Armour until I'm on the HC at 20-30 mg. first. Thanks for the starting dosage info and the increase info too, and to increase by 1/4 every 1-3 weeks. Thanks very much, --- Deborah Jacques wrote: > You could probably start on Armour, 1/4 grain at > wake up and 1/4 grain > at lunchtime, right now. Guest guest
I understand, ! Though if you wait until your HC is at least 20mg, you'll be able to start at a full grain without trouble, most likely. I was just suggesting that you could do it now, starting real low and slow .... WITH the HC, I'm sure you'll avoid the trouble you had last time! Guest guest
Hi Deborah I sure hope so! Never want to go through that again. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! --- Deborah Jacques wrote: > I understand, !
