Guest guest
Jodi i know that other antifungals are part of many good vulvar specialists beginning protocol - i have heard of Diflucan a lot at first and then 200mg a week semi long term (several months). Why don't you tell him?/her? about this group and ask if the one you got is similar? Also, it is a good sign that they sent your culture to grow . . that is important. It might be good to try estrace at the same time. just some thoughts
Guest guest
I have tried Diflucan and it seems to make my symptoms worse. SHe said she wanted to try Lamisil because it's easier on the liver ( no effects) for a long term dosage and she said it will go where ever the fungus is. She said it is broad spectrum and I've never used it before so she thought it may be good for my system. ( Because my body hasn't become immune to it like Diflucan, Terazol, etc.) I am just worried because it's used for Jock itch/ athletes foot..those kind of fungi. She is supposed to get the results from the lab by Friday or Monday. I am having yeast-like symptoms. I asked her about Nizoral and she said she wanted to try this... Who knows maybe it will give me relief!! (I'm not getting my hopes up though) Jodi
Guest guest
I heard that taking an antifungal like diflucan etc. when you really dont have yeast can give you a bacterial infection...anyone heard of this?
Guest guest
Just a sidenote on the lamisil/antifungal question. I know to kill my annoying resistant yeast (non-monilla candida, I believe) I'm taking oral suspension, to swish around and get the yeast in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract, vaginal tablets twice a day and cream externally. All this for 30 days. I don't know if other docs prescribe this. But it did the trick last time. Even though it is for long. Good luck. The other Jodi :-)
Guest guest
HI Jodi, I have heard here on the list in the past of some gals going on Lamisil for vaginal yeasts. I think when a more resistant type of yeast is suspected, it is used. I wished I could remember the names of the gals but right now I can't think of any. I do definitely remember though that it was used by some. Hope this information helps! Hugs, Carla )
Guest guest
Carla -- I had my mom (an MD) look up Lamisil and she said it's not recommended for vaginal yeasts, but that Sporanox IS starting to be recommended as another option instead of Diflucan -- so if Jodi hasn't tried Sporanox first, I'd try that before Lamisil. (Sorry, I don't have the original post bc. my mailbox got too full and rejected mail for a day!)

Guest guest
Yeah, tell your doctors not to have sex for a year or more and see how much they concentrate on their genitalia! Connie Re: LAMISIL ......QUESTION!!! ..by the way, this other doctor was the one who told me originally I was > putting to much attention on my vagina....Ya, right... > the very to you. > Hugs... > Suzy
