I cannot eat all those carbs. I could eat 15 grams at a meal and I am fine, but more than that spikes my blood. <for me it lowers BG, but am I doing my pancreas more harm and will need insulin sooner if I use one diet over the other?> I also wish I knew the answer to that too. I think that we have to do what works for us. I have learned, from this list, that portion control is so important. Also those little meals could help the bg's more than eating 3 big meals. Sorry I am not more helpful. But, I am sure someone on this list can help you more. Betty type2

Hi Tamarion, No one person or book is right or wrong. Diabetes is a disease that affects each individual differently. I have found that not only food, but our overall health, our attitude, our relationship with our doctor, our self-esteem, our exercise program, all play a role in how we handle diabetes. Some people can eat more carbs than others. In fact, I require more carbs because I'm " on the go " so much. It would be easy if there was one " diet " that worked for everyone, but there isn't, so each person has to find the program that works for them. I know what works for me and I will share that from time to time with the group. That doesn't mean I expect it to work for everyone. Diabetes is an ongoing learning experience, an ongoing testing experience. Do the best you can and more important, don't get stressed out worrying about numbers. That will only cause higher bg's. YIKES If I even eat 15 g per meal I have to take lots of drugs and I also spike with that. If I eat around 20 g PER DAY I don't have to take any drugs. I think for me I should listen to my body. I will not fight with myself by eating carbs and taking drugs. I use to eat low fat and high carbs. I was hungry all the time, could never lose a pound, then I got diabetes. Now I'm not hungry, I'm losing weight and the food is a heck of a lot better. I have found the more you don't eat carbs, the less you crave them. Although, this has taken me 6 months to taper down to this much.
