I am so glad to read this. I must have missed those posts you refer to.

I am feeling like I am the only person who has ever been in this position.

Is there anyone out there who got to a high dose Armour and found their

adrenals letting them down? I would love to hear from you.

I know this is a broad question, but it would nice to have some

reinforcement that the combo of HC and Thyroid meds will and does work

for HypoT and Adrenal insufficiency.

It's not working for me it seems which is really scary because I feel I have

nowhere else to go now.

Well I am here to tell yo it worked WONDERS for me! I spent 8 months on 20MG a

day of HC and up to 7.5 grains of Armour PLUS added T3, then went to 30MG HC and

my life started changing. It took 10 months at this dose for me to finally start

feeling well and I actually started forgetting to take my HC. That was when I

knew it was time to come off it. It too, less than a month to taper off it and I

have been able to reduce my Armour & T3 to about HALF what I used to require. I

have been totally off HC for about 3.5 -4 weeks and am doing great! I feel it

opened my receptors for the thyroid as well as correcting the absorption

problems I was having.

There are

other things going on in my body which are making life difficult - I

This is likely tobe stressing the adrenals and making things difficult for

you though I am quite sure it will be worthwhile if you can just bite the

bullet a little longer as you will eventually be relieving the burden on your

adrenals.

I did think about this aspect for myself but I simply have enough money to

I also know it is affecting my Free T3 levels -

I am in the position of being on a full replacement dose (25 mg

Pred), and can't (yet) get above 1 1/2 grains Armour because of my

adrenals!! I started Armour in April, and have been knocked back

again and again from going any higher because my adrenals can't

cope. The latest development was having to halve my dose (on the

advice of my endo) during the heatwave here in the South of France,

because my adrenals were severely stressed. Apparently we need less

thyroid hormone above temps of 22 degrees than under. I also read

elsewhere it took one woman 3 years to get to just over 1 grain

because her adrenals were so weak, and that was also on a full

replacement dose of Pred.

For people like me it is simply going to take a long time. I marvel

--- Hi Nicola!

Mo and Nicola

I have been following your threads today.I feel very alone at the

moment too. I felt so hopeful when I started but at the mment I am

feeling pretty fed up.

I don't have a clue what'shappening with meat the momemt. I've put on

so much weight and I can't bear to gt any bigger. I don't even feel

any better :(

I tried to raise to 2 grains but I can't. I can't seem to tolerate

even one Grain today. I have tried splitting up but each time I take

it I get slightly shakey, pulse goes up and I fell generaly more

crappy than usual - slightly fluey as well. It makes me quite

irritable too but that's partly as this is all driving me nuts.

Also, I tried Pred a couple of weeks ago and didn't feel very good on

that either. I don't think this is another dump though as my temps

aren't shooting up and I don't feel as bad as I did last time that

happened.

I also don't know if I need more Hc or less HC. My basal temps are

lower than they were and still down in the 97's. I suppose it could be

due to the low Ferritin but I wish I'd never started the HC cos all it

seems to be doing if I can't tolerate Armour is making me get fatter

and fatter.

I am also considering trying to add some T4. I don't have my first

appt with Hertoghe till the middle of Oct. Then it will be another 6

weeks before I actually see the man himself. Oh boy am I feeling sorry

for myself! I'll go and slap myself a few times LOL

---Yes I am very good about tracking temps - both basal and averages.

They are fluctuating slightly more than usual but I think that's

because of the Delta experiment a couple of weeks ago - it mucked

things up a bit.

They don't fluctuate madly though - usually .1 degree and sometimes .2 -.3

Thanks for the suggestion. It's quite possible I am missing something

obvious and need suggestions like that!

Oh and about Dr Hertoghe. Yes I am feeling very privaledged! He has

waiting lists several months long (3-4) and it can't come soon enough

for me!

--- Yes Val I always take the HC first so I will try what you suggest

- it just might help. Thanks for your reply.

As for stress dosing, the last time I did that I had a huge dump so

it's kind of put me off! Also, it feels more like it's the Armour

giving me strange symptoms rather than the adrenals (if you see what I

mean).

I only took one grain today (instead of 2)- I felt fluey and shaky and

tachycardic afterwards again. Then I didn't take any more the rest of

the day and I feel better! Weird with a capitol " W " LOL

Any other ideas?

--- Val, I tried this strategy today and it seems to have worked! No

fluey feelings, tachcardia and irritablility after the Armour! I have

managed to take 3/4 of the 2 grain dose. :)

Thankyou!

Can you please explain to me why it works better to take the HC after

the Armour?

Do you think that swallowing the armour instead of taking it

sublingually might be better for me to avoid the sudden rush of T3?

Thanks again, you are a S.T.A.R.

I saw your post the other day about how you timed your HC throughout

the day. I knew that I hadn't been very consistent, kept forgetting

the middle of the day doses. I bought a sport watch with 4 alarms to

remind me to take it every 4 hours. I feel so much more leveled out

throughout the day. Thanks for the advice. Now I think I can go up

to 3 gr of Armour.

Mo,

What I've been doing is, keeping it set every day at 7am, 11am, 3pm

and 7pm. I'm on my own for the bedtime pills. This schedule will

work for me on most of my normal days. If I sleep through the 7am

meds, I just take them at 8 or 9 when I get up, and again at 11am,

to stay on my schedule. I've been taking my Armour at the 7am and 3

pm alarm, but sometimes I forget to take the second dose of Armour

until later. I did that yesterday, and it was bad, I stayed up til

3am. The alarm isn't loud enough to wake me up so I still have to

use my regular alarm clock to get up.

I just read last night about taking HC after the Armour so I may

need to adjust this a little for my afternoon dose. Basically if I

take my Armour too early, like noon, I get starving in the evening.

If I take it too late, like 6pm, I stay up all night. Any

suggestions, Val?

If you need any help setting your watch, I can try to help.
