Guest guest
Good job Dave! Have you thought about trying Glucophage XR and take it at night? It works for reducing the high morning reading. Glucophage XR is a time released version. You take it at dinner. Through 4-30-01 you can get a FREE months supply. You will need to talk to your doctor and get a prescription for the Gluxophage XR. Guest guest
Yes, but I believe it would be lower in the morning. I take 2250mg throughout the day now, but that would change to 4x500mg if I changed as it only comes in 500mg, right? What was the URL for the coupon again Bill? -- Dave - 9:37:00 PM T2 - 8/98 Glucophage, NPH, H - Davors Daily Aphorism: Woman's mind is cleaner than man's; it changes more often -- Visit my HomePage: http://dorcutt.homepage.com

That's why it is ineffective when folks who are prescribed it, take it when they feel they need it, or want to eat more. I think the time-release would act the same in maintaining a baseline of protection. -- Dave - 10:25:02 PM T2 - 8/98 Glucophage, NPH, H - Davors Daily Aphorism: In mathematics or physics, simplifying can be complicated. -- Visit my HomePage: http://dorcutt.homepage.com

Anyway, morning reading 108, so I'm happy. Guest guest
Good deal glenna http://www.geocities.com/barnie_64/FAMILY.html My Pizza Experience & Deprivation A Pox on all of you that have been talking about your pizza eating the past couple of days! I haven't had pizza in almost a year, but since my wife is not feeling well I picked up a small size pizza, double cheese, with peppers & onions. I ate four (4) slices, but I didn't eat the outer crust (well maybe one bite). I took my evening glucophage, but -no- humulog insulin as I wanted a good test. Here are the results: 109 - pre dinner @ 5:17pm 129 - 30 minutes post dinner 127 - 60 minutes post dinner 119 - 90 minutes post dinner 124 - 2 hours post dinner 108 - 3 hours post dinner Note that the " 124 " was elevated due to sneaking two sugar free chocolate peanut butter cups. All readings courtesy of my One Touch Ultra. Now, what does this prove?? Nothing really, other than I feel I can eat pizza now and then without worry or lasting damage. I've got a birthday coming up next month and I'll most definitely have a piece of regular cake. My signature line indicates that I use glucophage, and I've recently (two months) been using insulin to combat elevated morning readings that I've had since contracting this disease. It's working, and I've actually reduced the amount of basal needed. I do not use it to cover additional food. As most have tossed around, my regimen consists of what most would say is moderate carbs, and it works for me for the results that I want. I don't eat whole bags of chips anymore, nor full bags of jelly beans, as I once did. I feel that newbies to the disease need to curtail their carb intake, and when stabilized, it is then possible to see what a person can tolerate via testing. Some can do more than others depending on their physical condition. I think my psyche is tainted when it comes to deprivation, and that's how it feels when everything good it seems is bad for us. I feel deprived. In our family there was a couple of depression era old timers, who were very wealthy (1 mil +), but never spent a cent they didn't have to, and always bought their clothes and Christmas gifts at flea markets and tag sales, sat in the near dark all the time. They could have bought anything that they wanted, had the best of new cars, but wouldn't do it, and their money went to charity when they passed. (which is a good thing) What's that have to do with diabetes? Nothing, other than an indicator of quality of life. I test all the time, learn what I can do with my body, and that's my WOE, and I'm happy without feeling deprived. If things change, then my WOE will change to adapt. -- Dave - 8:48:58 PM T2 - 8/98 Glucophage, NPH, H - Davors Daily Aphorism: I didn't cheat, I just changed the Rules! -- Visit my HomePage: http://dorcutt.homepage.com
