Guest guest
, The way they taught us in rehab was first lying in bed. They had a mirror that went between my legs (it was designed to be held there by the thighs). I suggest you get a mirror and hop in bed and spread your legs. Wash your hands, then just get familiar with your anatomy. Spread the skin, take a look around and just get to know yourself/anatomy. Also, in that position, you should be able to see your lady parts a lot easier than when trying to do it sitting on the toilet. Then, practice cathing in that position. When you do it, look in the mirror, and notice what you move and where you move it. Then try to replicate that with your eyes closed (or not looking). Another good suggestion to get it in the " right " hole --- You hold the catheter with your thumb and index finger to insert it. Use your middle or ring finger to cover up the " wrong " hole. So, even if you don't get it into the urethra, at least it won't pass into the va-jay-jay. I remember how frustrating it was to learn. Its just a matter of repetition. I remember when I was finally able to do it via touch when I was lying in bed. But when I tried to translate that to cathing via touch while sitting in my chair, it was much harder. It just took time and practice. Good luck and best wishes. At least you don't sound petrified anymore.
