Guest guest
Hi All, I am so upset. . .My gyno wrote down that she wanted Free T3 and Free T4. I only got the Free T4. Oh well, I go to the Naturopath on Monday and she can run the test. Although it will cost me. OBTW. . .I didn't know that a low body temp is bad. I run around 97.4 sometimes 97.1. That is in the middle of they day. The nurses have always kind of shrugged it off. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE. I also have extremely low BP. When I went to the gyno the other day the nurse said " Are you some kind of athlete or something?' I laughed. It was 109/69. How come they are concerned about high blood pressure and not low? Okay now here is what I got for the results: Hemoglobin 12.7------12.0 - 16 Glucose 6.5 -------7.0 - 11.0 (low) Estradiol 220 TSH (sensitive) 3.36 --------0.35 - 5.5 Triiodothyronine T-3 124----- 60-180 (is this the Free T-3) Thyroxine, Free (Free T4) 1.11 -----0.8 -1.80 Thyronxine T4 8.4------- 4.5 - 10.9 Follicle Stimulating Hormone 35.5 T7 2.7------- 1.4 - 3.1 Any comments would be welcome! Guest guest
it means you are just plain hypothyroid! High TSH numbers mean your body is asking for more thyroid hormone, but the gland just isn't able to produce enough. The " normal range " is kind of meaningless. Healthy people with healthy thyroid glands have a TSH around 1. > Gracia, > > What does it mean when the TSH is too high? > > Hugs > Sheryl > > Gracia wrote: > > TSH too high. Guest guest
Janie wrote In case Gracia does not get to you in time...........it means that your thyroid is not producing enough thyroid hormones, and your pituitary gland is sending out the TSH to get the thyroid to produce. Which it will not if you are hypo. Janie, I find it so amazing that doctors are all in the dark. Why don't they know anything? Especially the endo docs. How did you guys learn so much? Books? Here I was on evil Levoxyl, low BP, heart rate at 120 sitting in the docs office, SWEATING, running a temp...but because MY TSH was pretty to them, they didn't care not one little bit that I was sick. Nope, didn't care about the high temp, racing heart, could harly walk, sweating and face swolen and bags under my eyes etc etc etc.... They treat towards TSh, thats all. Guest guest
And, before I forget...a hypothyroid person with a 12 for a hemoglobin is VERY VERY ANEMIC. Hypo causes false high hemoglobin on the CBC. Mine was 11.7 and my FE (iron) was 18 in a range like 50-180 (or something like that) and my ferritin was a 4!!!!! I was so flipping anemic it was not funny, terribly iron deficient. I would say to get the FE and ferritin levels checked ASAP, but you may as well start taking iron today, because it is going to be real real low. I am a nag about this...ask Janie. But it is in a good way. But it is true!!!!! Janie was a mess and idn't even know it. You would be VERY surprised to know how different you will feel when your body starts maikng new red blood cells. > Get those adrenals checked! Gee you think she would have known to check my Ferritin levels. Now I know and I shall never forget I am glad you are a crusader for iron. I just had a 14 day period. . ..Peri-menopausal I am. Guest guest
> I have written that on my list for Monday as well. What kind of iron should I be taking? Janie is on one script for iron, I forget what her's is called. I am on Niferex, which you also need a script for, its 150 mg in a capsule, very absorbable, no consitipation or bloating...which is nice. OTC you get like 18 mg. That does nothing! I take a niferex and a multi with its measely 18 mg extra. I took 300 mg for 2 months daily until I felt better! My hemoglbin is up to 14.1, the best it has ever been. I still take lots of iron though, because when you are hypo, it is so easy to go iron deficient! (Also, it will make your periods longer as well, not just peri but hypo will do that too!) Remember to injest viatmin C, too. Helps you get that iron absorbed and very good for adrenals. Glad you are aware how bad low iron can be...sorry you have had to have a transfusion. My aunt has a problem with her's too. >>It actually sounds like a sci-fi movie or a Twillight Zone episode (if your old enough to remember). What a joke. These people are in denial. The part that is sad is that the world considers them intelligent and needed. Not ALL are bad. The one I have now is good, she got me on armour and tested my adrenals. And she is very into nutrition. (and I have seen the twilight zone, yes*LOL*) >I go to the Naturopath on Monday, I will has >her to check them. What can they give you for them. I get dizzy a lot too. My daughter also has low BP. Yours is extremely low. Are you on medication for your adrenals? Good for you going to the Naturopath. More than likely this doc will do more for you than a clinical doc. No, I am not on Medication for my adrenals...because most docs will try to treat low cortisol with supplements before going with steriods. My cortisol is low normal, meaning that while my levels are low, my cortisol is excreeted in the normal pattren for the day, indicating that there is nothing wrong with them, they are just tired. What most docs like to do (though there are ones who will give steriods right off the bat) is have you take supplements to nourish your adrenal cortex and allow it to rest. Some important things to take are Vit C, B complex, and I take the amino acid L-Tyrosine as well. You can get glandular support, like Isocort, which is supplement made of adrenal gland cortex and medula (kind of like armour is made from real thyroid) and it also contains some nutrients and L-Tyrosine. L-Tyrosine also supports thyroid function. I like it. I also take selenium and zinc (helps that conversion from T4 to T3), flax seed oil, the multi and extra iron, Co-Q 10, magnesium. You can also take Siberian Ginseng and/or Maca to support adrenals. I feel OK for the most part lately. I still have some issues, but I think I need the female hormones checked...possibly peri myself, or something...I have the period from hell right now. > > These groups are so vital!!! > This is true! I have learned a lot here, and great people make the difference, too. Sorry if I sound like a space cadet, I just woke up and haven't had a cup of coffee yet. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for all the information on iron. I have added it to my shopping list for today. I should have known I was low on iron as one of my symptoms all my life was nausea while I eat. Actually looking at food made me ill sometimes. The other day I was starving, and the thought of eating made me sick. But because I was hungry I fixed some sugar peas. I thought I was going to barf the whole time I ate them. I thought I had some kind of bug. I think I tried that L-Tyrosine. It has been a couple of years ago. If I remember right it me nervous, but I am willing to try it again. I also have MVP like someone else on this list. Can't remember who. . .sorry. It affects everything I take in. Sometimes my body (because of the MVP) just needs time to adjust to something, and the racing heart can actually go away over time Thanks again Sheryl Sheryl Illustrations http://dovedesignsrus.com/

Guest guest
Oh shoot, what does this mean? I just had a lab slip made up for CBC and ferritin. Is Fe different? I told her I wanted Iron and Ferritin and she said " CBC? " and I said " ok " . I think me and my doctor are really in the same boat. I know a little more than her only because I have been reading up. But she seems teachable. So we will do this. I'll have the information and she will have the power and together we will work for my optimum health. I'll have to let her know of my plan when I go back in! Guest guest
Sheryl, It was an especially hard time.. I didn't make it to the hospital in time.. she was gone before I got there.... and she was buried on my birthday.. that meant that it was " special " (is that even the right word to use?) between me and her... she would never had chosen that time, had she the option. She had said for years that when her time came that we were not to cry, that her leaving was the end to her pain.. we should be happy for her and throw 'one helluva party' which we did.. friends, family and neighbors... plenty of food and laughter and stories.. just the kind of party she would have thrown. And many changed from fancy clothes into comfy clothes..just as she would have told us to.
