Guest guest
My GP gave me a scrip for Zyban to " help " me quit smoking. As instructed, I took one 150 mg pill for 3 days, then upped to 2 pills beginning on day 4. I did the 2 pills per day for about 4 days, then decided this drug was not for me. Cut back to 1 per day for next 2 days, then quit. It was an interesting 10 days. I had a " funny " feeling in my head beginning day 2 (like someone was pushing down on the top of my head). Tons of " unnatural " energy (I'm 52 - pressure washing the vinyl siding on my house is not a normal activity!) and increasing insomnia. Exercise, which normally leaves me feeling great, left me feeling tired and flat. Even chocolate didn't taste right. It's 3 weeks off the stuff and I'm only sleeping 3 hrs or so at night, waking worn out. Exercise still doesn't feel right. Concentration difficult. Same " funny " feeling in my head. Told my GP all of this (I won't make that mistake again) -- he thinks I'm nuts. Does anyone know how long it takes to get this stuff out of your system? Saw a homeopath yesterday who gave me some melatonin, which helped some last night. Thanks.
Guest guest
Hello, I am in a similar situation with Wellbutrin XL, which is a similar drug to Zyban. I was on it for 2 months, and after weaning myself off, (with my doc's help) have been off for 12 days. Wish I had some answers for you. Wish also that I had some for me, since these past months have been very difficult. My main problem is the increased anxiety that comes from the 'unnatural energy' you mentioned. It is brutal for me. Debilitating at times.Thankfully, I do sleep at night. That has got to be really hard for you. Don't know much else, really. Just know that you are not alone. Keep me posted. I am hoping that your days get easier. Take care,
Guest guest
Hi , You said " I am in a similar situation with Wellbutrin XL, which is a similar drug to Zyban. Things will improve, but noone can tell you when, it depends on so many factors, like how fast you came off the drugs, whether you have any other medical conditions, what your diet is like, supplements, stresses in your life.........etc It can and does improve with time, hang on to this, it really helped me get through the worst of my withdrawal just knowing that others had been there and were now leading productive lives again.
