Guest guest
Hi , I had liver abscesses after an ERCP -- they are quite difficult to get rid of. Have the doctors determined exactly what organisms you are trying to get rid of? In my case, we knew what was growing and used the proper antibiotic, but they were still tough to eliminate. If they aren't sure, they should probably do a culture during any invasive procedure (like routine biopsies or PTCs). Penny Terry wrote:r. Then the next day we got a call from the hospital-everything not fine-ultrasound apparently shows the abcess is still there-need to go back on antibiotics immediately and back to London in 10 days. (aaargh) Got the antibiotics, started on them, called down to speak to doc re. ultrasound. He had another look. No mad panic. Everything looks OK. Just keep on antibiotics to be on safe side.
