Guest guest
I have a question about after the fall. Has your side become super sensitive? I fell in the shower 2 weeks ago and now, my side from my shoulder to my knee feel weird. When I go for a shower, I feel like my skin is on fire but only on one side. I have extreme pain when I move my shoulder and really hurts when I wake up in the morning because I always wake on that side, no matter where I start off when I go to bed. The burning sensation, it will not go away. It seems stronger and stronger, every day. The pain, it is intense. This illness, doesn't make any sense. http://www.mswebpals.org/amanda.htmhttp://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanadaMS/
Guest guest
Hi , I haven't noticed any increased sensitivity as a result of this fall. I can say that my scalp and my back are quite sensitive to touch. But, I'm sure it's not from the fall since this has been going on for some time. When you fell, did you hit your shoulder hard? The reason I ask is that a few years ago, I went to visit a client and slipped on ice and landed on the ground hitting my shoulder pretty hard on a 2x4 partially buried in the ground. I had excruciating pain for months. I couldn't take cortisone which is what the ortho doc offered me. He talked about the possibility of a torn rotator cuff and ordered an MRI. Luckily, there was no tear. He told me that with enough time, the pain should subside. It has but I still can't raise my arm straight up above my head. It's hard to reach things on the top shelf because I sometimes forget this limitation. Since I'm right-handed, I have a tendency to reach for things with my right arm. I hope your pain resolves or at least becomes more tolerable Donna in WA It does not require many words to speak the truth. --Chief ph __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Donna. Thanks for asking. I had one foot in the air moving into the shower and one foot in the bath. I had just started to go in and my right foot just disappeared. All I remember is when I stopped going down, I was on my back and my right side hurt. But thinking back, I probably went down side ways and hit both sides. My right side was on the side of the tub and the left was in the air, but did I hit the left on the way down, I don't remember. I have movement in my arm it just feels like the skin wants to peel off. It hurts just to touch the skin. I just have the huge burning sensation and now my hand is sluggish to use. The burning sensation, it will not go away. It seems stronger and stronger, every day. The pain, it is intense. This illness, doesn't make any sense. http://www.mswebpals.org/amanda.htmhttp://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanadaMS/ http://ca.geocities.com/games_identity2001/filmcanisterlights.html Girl Guides of Canada Evergreen Division, White Oaks AreaMississauga, OntarioProgram Advisor
Guest guest
How are you doing now? Fatigue for me isn't as bad as it was several years ago. I used to just zonk out. When the fatigue hit I really HAD to go to sleep. I couldn't stay awake. I would usually sleep like the dead for 4 or 5 hours. I don't know why it's better now. Memory loss is a big problem for me. I do have cognitive dysfunction with memory loss. I have forgotten entire conversations and events. But usually it's smaller things. Do you also have trouble remembering or finding the correct words? MS is a stupid thing, isn't it??? hugs to you))) Sharon Donna wrote: Yesterday, I hit the ground. My right hip, left knee, and right upper arm took most of the impact. I thinkI tripped on something. I try to beso careful and not move too fast. I didn't have mycane with me but I'm not sure if it would have kept mefalling. My whole body is still sore from that fall yesterday. What was weird, to me anyway, is that yesterday afterI managed to crawl to the couch and then get up, mybody started tingling. Like the pins and needles sensation that I used to get after sitting on my foottoo long and then standing up. Does anybody have problems with fatigue, memory loss, appetite loss? Guest guest
For me, fatigue and muscle weakness are the worst part. I also have trouble finding the right words, and trouble sometimes articulating words--it just all comes out jumbled up. Guest guest
Hi Donna, I'm sorry to hear about your falling. I did that and broke my ankle in December. I have got the tingling feeling. I describe it like I hit so hard that my nerves tryied to recoup and to start feeling again. It seems like I would start get "a little feeling" back thaen would go back to the norm. I have major problems with memory loss and fatigue. As all of us MS'rs know it varies from day to day. One day I feel like I'm on top of the world and hours later I'm dragging around like I have a zillion pounds of weight and my feet feel like the are frozen blocks of ice. Since my sensation is off...there are time that I feel my feet are really hot and when I take my slippers off they are ice cold. and at times I think they are cold they feel warm. So strange. With the appitite propblem a year ago...oh my gosh....my mom kepts saying , Darlene something is wrong with you....you are losing weight. I wasn't even trying to loose the weight either. I describe it that my "brain would tell me that I was not hungry and I didn't have an appetite." That lasted a year and then I started to get my cravings to eat back. Lately, I'm back to not wanting to be hungry. I am taking wellbutrin alongwith another anit depressent. So not sure if that has anything to do with it. I like the feeling of not being hungry cuz I can make it up at other times. I could go all day and not eat and my hubby wll say for me to eat but I don't have the urge to eat so I wait util I or my body wants it. I will feel/hear my stomach chrowl but and the same time I dont' have the craving. So strange as it will come and go. Donna, have you been having problems with appetite loss with not trying too? If so what meds are you on? Look forward to hearing from you and I pray that you will start feeling better and to walk better. Hugs Also my email address has changes so if anyone is sending email to Kickincanecovers@... I am not receiving it...they should go to kickincanecovers@.... Just in case I'm mising messages. Donna, keep your spirits up and be the cheery person that you are. Darene Kickin Cane Covers WWW.canecovers.org -- I fell again Yesterday, I hit the ground. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I have horrible fatigue. I wouldn't trust myself to drive more than a few miles. Luckily, I live in a small college town. I can get to most places in 2 or 3 miles, 7 to 10 minutes. Not like Seattle. I fall asleep at odd times. But,I can still sleep all night. I was late to work one evening because I didn't know I had fallen asleep. I was supposed to work at 5 and didn't wake up until 6:15. I get stuck on words a lot. Names too. My favorite singer could be singing his number one hit on the radio. My son will ask who's singing and I think and all I can say is that I know his name but it's not coming to me right now. Unless I right things down that people say to me, I'll forget what they say almost right away. But some things stay with me longer than other things. I've missed appointments because I've forgotten them or slept through them. I have to write appointments down but writing them down doesn't always mean that I'll remember to go. I fell on Tuesday morning. Today, I'm still sore but not so tingly. The soreness will probably take a while longer to go away. Working through the soreness seems to only make it worse so I'm resting when I can. Guest guest
I take DL-Phenalalinine for fatigue and Gingko for memory, they both help. Guest guest
On the rare occasions that I have sleeplessness, I take Benedryl! Works just fine, and a lot safer than Lunesta, Ambien or narcotics! At least for me. Love to you and our group, Robin, n Re: I fell again> > Hi Sharon,> > I have horrible fatigue.
