Welcome to our group, a. It is truly a source of great support. Sounds

like your heart has made it's decision about the tr. I just had mine done and

I would do it again in a heartbeat if needed because I feel so much better in

so many ways.

Hi a, I'm Janice and I am also in the process of

planning my tubal reversal. Our stories are very

similar in the aspect that I too was married to a not

so nice guy, we had three children together and

divorced in 1999. I am now remarried to a wonderful

man and he has no children of his own but together we

are raising my 3, that are 5, 8 and 10. I am planning

on around December to have my tubal reversal. Good

luck to you!! and welcome to the group.

Janice

Josh, you've definitely come to the right place. I was diagnosed with PSC

in November 2001, but I've had a UC diagnosis since February of 1988 (I was

19 at the time, 33 now). This group is a fantastic resource for learning

about PSC and ways to cope with it - I feel lucky to have found this group

after my diagnosis, otherwise I think I'd be going crazy trying to figure

out what this disease is really about!

I've heard numbers ranging from 1 in 10,000 to 3 in 100,000 for the

incidence of PSC in the general population. I've been told that UC is

around 1 in 1000, so that means that somewhere between 3% and 10% of UC

patients go on to develop PSC. If my numbers are anywhere close to right,

that is. :-)

I just hit " send " and I've already realized that my numbers are wrong. :-)

Approximately 70% of PSC patients have IBD (predominantly UC, but

occasionally Crohn's), so it turns out that somewhere between 2% and 7% of

UC patients develop PSC. At least, if I didn't screw up the numbers again.

Dear ,

Welcome to the group.

You said:

<< I recently detoxed 22 days ago, from 120mg oxycontin 3x aday. I

was abusing them by chewing them up. >>

** Are you saying 120 mg each dose of 3 doses or 120 mg. split

into 3 doses (I believe it's the former but just want to clarify)?

Also, how long had you taking and abusing Oxycontin? Why was it

originally prescribed and was it being prescribed in this amount? If

so, for how long at this dosage?

You said:

<<When I enetered detox i was taking 75mg effexor for anxiety and

deppression also taking diazapam .25 at night.>>

** How long had you been taking each of these?

You said:

<<The Drs in detox cut off my effexor and diazapam and started me

on 50 mg of seraquel 3x a day, 300 mg of norontin 3x aday 30mg of

remeron at bedtime. When i left detox i was feeling very jumpy and

anxious. I went to see my family Dr who was also my pain management

dr and he refused to do anything about my medications and told me I

needed to see a shrink. 2 days later I saw a substance abuse dr. who

told me to stop serequel and start back on effexor. I was having some

pretty bad side effects due to abruptly stopping effexor. So I

stopped serequel and norontin and continued with the remeron and

effexor.>>

** Exactly what was the time frame on all this? How many days

were you on each of these drugs?

You said:

<< This Dr also wanted to start me on Suboxone and I said no I would

like to just be me from now on ty very much. I post on focus

healthcare and had mentioned that i was on effexor and remeron. I

recieved a response that brought me to this board for help. I would

like to get off all of these medicatins and just try to live life as

myself and see how it goes. Trying to deal with oxycontin withdrawls

and then trying to ween off this other stuff is scaring me. I am

wondering what this stuff is doing to my brain.

>

> I just want to feel normal again. I know it takes time and I am

willing to try. I am currently taking Omega 3's Super B complex, A

master gland formula and 7 keto. I am trying to watch what I eat and

drink lots of water. My problem is that we are on a tight budget and

these things cost alot of money. I have 3 yr old twins and a 17 month

old and money is tight. I will try to do the best I can.>>

** So, exactly what are you taking right now, and if you're not,

how long did you take each of these and how long have you been off

them?

All of these supplements are most likely contributing to anxiety.

At the very least, discontinue the 7-Keto and the glandular. you

might be having difficulty metabolizing the B vitamins - - morer than

50% of people do. They are better off getting B's in foods. Your

hormonal system has been compromised by the drugs but you are

challenging it too much now with these other products. It needs to

calm down and be re-buitl -- not challenged. Overall, these are only

adding to your imbalances right now.

What emotional and physical symptoms are you now

experiencing? The more details you can give, the better I can help.

From what I can see without your answers to the questions I asked,

is that you are in quite a mess. you can't cold turkey off all these

drugs and expect to get well. It doesn't work that way.

Your Oxycontin habit, and the subsequent cold turkey withdrawal

from it, along with all the other drugs, sets you up for permanent

serious damage to your nervous system . The goal is to get clean but

to do it in a way that reduces or eliminates further harm than that

which has already been caused by the drug usage.

I'm a rabid anti-drug person so when I recommend a drug to

someone it is because I see no other way for them to get through

something without serious harm. I'm recommending Suboxone to you

with this caveat -- as long as the doc you are seeing plans to

slowly lower the dose so you are off it some day.

I realize that this is not in keeping with what you ideally want,

but I think you didn't have enough information to understand the

implications of your choice.

Many people are finding success at being drug-free by using

Suboxone. The percentage of people who were able to do this prior to

Suboxone was miniscule. The other drugs you were prescribed are not

a good option because of how profoundly they affect the body and

chemistry. Suboxone is fairly straightforward in how it works and

the best thing about it is that people are able to stop taking it

after a while.

I'm sure I'll have more to say after you answer my questions.

BTW, when you write, could you please hit the ENTER key a couple

of times after 3 or 4 sentences? It is very difficult to read a

whole block of text like that with no breaks in it. Thanks!

Actually, there's one more thing I want to say. Opiates and the

other drugs you have been taking deplete block numerous nutrients.

Add to this the poor diet of most people with addictions and

nutritional supplements become crucial to recovery. I realize what

you're saying about money, but I can't change the facts --

supplements make a huge difference and contribute to the success of a

recovery. Recovery is very difficult, and in many cases, impossible

without these.

Welcome! I am continually amazed by treatment people get at rehabs.

Personally, I had my own travails with doctors wanting to get me on a

plethera of meds when I was in. I have talked to scores of people with

similar experiences to yours and mine. It is ironic and sad that they

have knowledge as it pertains to sobriety and attaining it from illegal

drugs, yet are woefully and sometimes criminally ignorant as it

pertains to use of legal drugs like psychotropic meds. Anyways, my ship

didn't get put on the right path until I found this group and I am glad

you have now as well. Once again, welcome and God bless,

Casey

Dear , Just wanted to update you on what i am taking since i journaled it. yesterday, i took 115 mg in a 24 hour period. and i was extremely uncomfortable all day. It just barely made it bearable. I had to take it every hour or so. I am a lot worse off than i thought. I had just gone thru this big jar of Norcos like they were candy...and that was when i finally knew i had to do something about my habit. i am sure that 115 mg is way more than a 10% cut. dont know how much of a cut...but i sure am having a tough time. i am sticking to my guns though and was just wondering if since i am in such a drastic cut now, if that means i will have to be at this level a little longer than i had hoped? More than 3 days i would assume. Anyway, i am trying to hang in there. This is hell for sure. Warmly, Janna

Dave, I can relate to you. I have been coming of geodon for several months now. I too was taking 40mg 2x a day. It was very difficult in the beginning because I was tapering by 10% and suggested that I try decreasing by 5% increments at at a time wait until my body stabilized before making another 5% decrease. I've done this for a long time now and using the 5% decrease has made the withdrawals much more tolerable. I'm almost to the end now and hope to be done sometime at the end of April or sometime in June. Being patient with the process and going at a pace that your body tells you to follow is very important. Listen and make sure your body is stabilized before making another decrease. This should help you out with the withdrawals. Hang in there. You can do it. I was parnoid and worried to start with too, but once I

learned to take it slow, things got better. There might be occasional moments of feeling foggy headed and alittle anxious, but it is general tolearable and passes. I try and keep myself distract by doing other things or calling and talking with or hanging out with a friend and this helps me to get through it. Try this and see how it works for you and let us know how things go. may have more adivice and tips for you. ** I'd actually like a true baseline on this -- not one where

you are in withdrawal. I think you'll find that if you take a larger

dose you will not be in withdrawal all day. What I mean is if you are

taking at least 115 mg a day, I think you'll do better doing 30 mg 4x

a day rather than taking them one-by-one.

My deepest concern at this time is more the antidepressant than

the opiates. There is evidence that SSRIs may encourage the

development of certain types of cancer by blocking the body's natural

ability to destroy the diseased cells, so I'm seeing this as perhaps

being equally if not more crucial to address -- the sooner the better.

Your thoughts?

Hello Susie, and Welcome to the Group!

I'm sorry to hear that another

person in this world of dread is suffering from nearly uncontrollable

pain. And you are the very first person I've heard who suffers from

MCTD (Mixed Connective Tissure Disorder).

I live in Maine, but when I

was living in Louisiana I went to a specialist in Houston and was

diagnosed with it. Along with that I have Myasthenia Gravis,

Polymiositis, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjodren's Syndrome,

Lymphdema, I am severely Bi-Polar II, have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress

Disorder), Anxiety/Panic Attacks and Insomnia.

Since I was diagnosed

with MCTD, thank God the doctor understood how much pain I was in from

head to foot on a daily basis before the MCTD, he sent me back to my

Pain Specialist with a letter explaining exactly what my days and nights

are like and he suggested a med change immediately. I now take 80 mg of

Oxycontin every 12 hrs (time released), and 2-3 500mg of Percocet every

6 hours for breakthrough pain.

When I have a Myasthenic Crisis and am

taken to the hospital by ambulance and they read that I have Myasthenia

Gravis and MCTD, I feel like the new animal in the new - nurses and

doctors come running to see me because no one has heard of, never mind

seen a person with these diseases!!!

I wish you the best, most days it's

really pretty hard to hold your head up, or hold the tears back, but we

just have to muster up all the courage we can and tough it out. I hope

you find or have found the doctors you have faith in and can talk to

without them talking to you like you're a 5 year old!! Write to me

anytime. I know exactly what you're going through. Take Care n' God

Bless!

Hi there,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I came over after the chelation group shut down and have been too busy with the kids to spend much time with the group but the last couple days have really enjoyed reading the posts. I get a lot out of other peoples experience and thank-you all for sharing them!

I've got 3 boys. The oldest is typical and the younger 2 regressed into autism nine months apart and have mitochondrial disease type 1. Just as I was overcoming the shock of my middle sons regression and learning about what to do my baby (he's 3 today) started to regress. He was 15 months at the time.

My boys are on a modified SCD diet (with no casin, yeast, low phenol and sugar). We are also chelating, do namenda, valtrex, B-12, naltrexone, fluconazole and loads of supplements. My children are low functioning. My almost 5 year old started to put words together after we started valtrex but my little one didn't respond. Both boys autism is so similar as far as behavior and blood work the older one is having slow but gradual gains but my baby doesn't respond to much. He regressed in school last year so he has a home ABA program (40 hrs) a week from the school this year ( we gave him 20 hrs. last year after full day preschool) and hes picking up some sign but the biomed doesn't seem to do much for him so far. I know it works cause it is working on my other son. I'm switching DAN! Dr.'s next month hoping that Dr. Rossignal will help us with HBOT. My youngest almost died in the spring because of a reaction to clonidine and I'm pretty sure my current DAN! is now afraid to try things with him.

I'm active in trying to get insurance coverage for ABA therapy because I believe that once we clean these little guys up, with biomed., they respond best to the intense 1:1 intervention. I recognize some of the people on here from other lists and look forward to sharing hope with all of you. If your interested in seeing my little guys go to http://www.autismvotes.org/site/c.frKNI3PCImE/b.4445103/k.D5E8/Virginia.htm Autism Votes Virginia and click on the cute little guy, that would be my youngest Korlan or you can look at his webpage (it really needs to be updated) www.korlanneedsyourhelp.org .

Take care, Casandra
