Yep, sounds like.

In general, yes. Not always tho. Some kids are only sensitive to the

artificials, so they are not salicylate sensitive, just phenol

sensitive.

>> Banana confuses me, it has zero salicylates but is classified as

Bananas are high amine, another subset of phenol.

Salicylate is a subset of phenol. High salycilate means high phenol.

High amine means high phenol, just a different type of phenol.

> As you could see this totally confuses me.

Confused me at first also. But because this was my son's [and my own]

main issue, I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure it out LOL

>> Also I havent seen honeydew is

> that high salicylates/high phenol?

I have not found that one specifically. Melons tend to be high

phenol, but honeydew is light green in color, probably not too bad.

You can try it and see what happens with your child, if you want.

My kids have not tolerated any EFAs that I have tried. I don't know

what to recommend, sorry.

>>What is good for treating gut yeast?

Removal/big reduction is sugar and carbs in the diet, GSE, Olive Leaf,

probiotics, Digestive Enzymes particulary HNI Pep and No Fenol and Pure

Essence Labs Candex enzyme. (Not all at once!)

One reason might be better digestion of the sugars and carbs he is

GSE works very well for my family. Or you can consider oil of

oregano, or other similar.

Eruptions/rashes/bumps/acne are all the body's way of telling you something is

out of whack inside. The skin is one of the body's methods of expelling

problems. A cream wouldn't address the yeast overgrowth, only the rash. I would

treat with GSE to get the yeast issue under control on the inside.

Yeast

Kyson (5 yr old h/f aspergers) has had a rash around his mouth on and off

for a few years now. The latest breakout has lasted about 6 months. We keep

it under control with Elocon cream but it is still apparent, particularly if

you don't put it on twice daily.

I am wondering if it could be a yeast infection. Would a yeast cream clear

it up?

Thanks , do you think that it could be a yeast problem? Also what is

GSE and where can you get it?

Thanks.

Ignore my question about GSE. I found a website that explains it.

It can be yeast. Try Lotrimin, from your grocery store, see if that

works better.

GSE is Grapefruit Seed Extract. Administering it is usually the quickest/

surest way to see if yeast is an issue. You'll either get die-off then

improvement or no reaction and no improvement. We put one drop in a cup of

lemonade with a capsule of No-Fenol a couple of times a day for a couple of

days. We buy ours at our local health food store.

Thanks for this info. I am definitely going to get some. I won't be able to

get it until the weekend (I live in a remote area). I'll stop using the

cream when I start using it and see what happens.

I have never heard of it. Maybe we don't have it here in Aus. Is it a yeast

cream.

It is a yeast cream. You can buy the " female yeast issues " version,

or the " foot/jock itch " version.

I tried Caneston (a yeast cream) on it once and it spread and went very red

This sounds like die off effect. Continue to give the activated

charcoal. You can also reduce the doses of your yeast killers, that

can also help.

I would keep treating until he has no rages and the bms are better and

the rash is gone.

No-Fenol enzyme can also help.

Thanks, Dana. I'm doing plenty of No-Phenol too, with the GSE and other times

too. Might have to get some oil of oregano just so I can throw something else

at it.

I keep hearing people say that No-Fenol can " help " with yeast. Does

that mean it's useful but not as useful as, say, GSE? Just weighing

my options on the next move.

Also, do phenol problems manifest themselves as addiction the way

gluten intolerance does? I see my daughter eating a LOT of apples

and pears, but that's about all that makes me think she might have a

phenol problem.

Finally, activated charcol. Can this be purchased at a health food

store? Also, does it cause any problems w/digestion or stools? And

should it be given with or after a meal?

Thanks - continuing to pepper you all with questions, I know...

No-Fenol helps to break down the yeast cell wall, which will allow

your probiotic and/or yeast killer to be more effective in killing the

yeast. For some kids, just breaking down the cell wall will allow

their bodies to keep the yeast under control, even without probiotics

or yeast killers.

>

For many kids, yes.

>> I see my daughter eating a LOT of apples

Pears are low phenol, apples are high. Both are in the same food

family tho. So if your child craves both, it is probably an

intolerance to that food family, not necessarily phenols. But

No-Fenol did allow my kids to eat both apples and pears, and my kids

had problems with the food family as well as my son having problems

with phenols.

I have never used it, but I have heard good results with it absorbing

toxins from die off. So you would want to give it about 30-45 minutes

after you give your yeast treatment, and it would absorb the toxins

from the dying yeast.

I'm using Nature's Way activated charcoal. It comes in capsules. Only 10

minutes or so after GSE or Candex my son was going NUTS -- hitting, kicking,

super-hyper, screaming he was going to kill me. The die-off must feel

terrible. So immediately (when I can get him calm) he takes 1 cap of charcoal

and within 5 minutes he is FINE. It is really something to see. Finally now,

after a week, he is not reacting to probiotics or to Candex, the rash on his

bum has gone, and whew it looks like we've weathered the storm. Thanks to

Dana and everyone else for helping us through.

BTW this is very similar to what happens with Alka Seltzer Gold. If there's a

mystery reaction or an infraction, a bit of ASG mixed into juice stops the

reaction cold. Another miracle.

Why do you say this? What behaviors and/or bms does she have? I ask

because giving GSE when there is no yeast, will cause a bacteria

problem for my kids.

As a chelating adult, I followed what the kids were doing and it has helped

occasional Oil of Oregano when the yeast gets really bad.I think that there

are many strains of yeast and some are resistant to various anti-fungals,so

you have to keep trying until you get the right combo.

Also, for yeast flare-ups,I had to completely take myself off carbohydrates.I

eat poultry,eggs,veg,and lots of nuts,nut butters,coconut milk,ect...This

has made a huge difference.Basically,I don't give the yeast any food that

will eventually turn into sugar.

The yeast flares at the end of a chelation cycle:I think it's the

redistribution. So I actually do better on 3 on/4 off, than a longer waiting

period. It helps mop up some of the redistribution.

Hi, well now today she is so much better..I skipped one day of the

tea. Im really not 100% when she has yeast problem or not..her stool

gets very soft and shes very defiante and screams and bangs on things

and breaks things..No bm yet today.. 2 episodes of crying for no

apparent reason other than pain..She does have better days when we

chelate.. I will increase the culturelle..any other thoughts.
