Guest guest
Hi Judy, Kim and Jan-thanks so much for the kind welcomes! My gyno will retest every 3 months and as far as the antibodies ect.-I have no idea but I'm assuming she would say no because I asked her to test my adrenals and she refused. I think I need another doctor-she is very conventional and I had to pull teeth in getting her to give me a bio- identical tetosterone creme. She also believes that since I don't have my parts I have no need for progesterone anymore-I disagree with that! With all my pregnancies I had to supplement progesterone and I've always had symtoms of estrogen dominance. I would prefer to take something natural for my thyroid-what do you guys use? I've been reading alot about armour being a superior thyroid med as well as natural and that would be more something I would like. I've had 2 appointments with the Gionio group but cancelled because I was too tired. Maybe this synthroid will at least give me the drive to get to that office. Thanks again and I'm really happy to have found this site- thanks for accepting me-Karey
Guest guest
Hi Carol-thanks so much for the welcome. I agree about getting a new doctor but just have not had the " drive " to get there. I've cancelled 2 app. with the Gionio Group but hopefully this synthroid will help finally make one and keep it. Does anyone else feel like a labrat? These last few years with surgery's and with my last pregnacy almost died due to pulminary edema-blew the c-section cut open and was packed for 3 months and its been downhill ever since. Thanks so much again for the welcome-Karey
Guest guest
Karey, You've been through more than enough. I could barely get out of bed, literally. My husband had to make the appointment, the travel arrangements and then get me there. Enough is enough. Carol >> Hi Carol-thanks so much for the welcome. Guest guest
I am on compounded bio-identical DHEA, testosterone, TriEst (three estrogens), progesterone and hydrocortisone. They are prescribed for me by my doc in Lubbock. Steve will not even treat a thyroid patient without at least testing all of the hormones. He understands how all of the hormones work together. For thyroid, I am on Armour plus a little of the Lannett levothyroxine. My primary care doc actually prescribes that for me. would prescribe it for me, but my drug plan gets confused if I send them scripts from more than one doc. If there is a question or a problem, they inevitably call the wrong doc. . . . If I could not make the six hour trip to Lubbock, I would definitely make the 20-minute trip to Rowlett to see Gonino or the somewhat longer drive to Southlake to see Jay Mahoney. Some docs even prescribe progesterone for men. Every cell in your body needs all of those hormones. Sex hormones are not just for sex. . . . . Guest guest
Hi Jan-yes I meant Gonino and I found them when my dr told me that I needed a hysterectomy and would probably need hrt. I didn't want synthetic hormones so I went on a search for dr's that will prescribe bio-identical hormones and he was the only one that accepted my insurance...sure wish I would have kept the app. because they would probably have caught the thyroid issue immediatly. Guest guest
Karey, I see Dr. Gonino and he will test your adrenals if you ask. I'm going to see him Tuesday again and get his recommendations for dealing with mine and I'll let you all know what he says. He also will prescribe Armour thyroid if you ask. They did my antibodies as well and a battery of other labs that they do with every new patient. I think you would like him. He and his wife are both hypo. I'll report again after Tuesday. I hear you about the drive to the office, I had to drive myself and take the GB Freeway and my heart was pounding a mile a minute when I got there... Guest guest
Hi Jan-I'm curios why a doctor uses a mail order verses one in the area? I get my compounds at northside pharmacy here in McKinney. They will work with your insurance and since my youngest Christian was a reflux baby getting his cremes and meds they were able to get my insurance filed which helped us financially alot. Now my tetosterone creme they couldn't get covered but I was happy they at least tried. Anyway just curious...thanks
Guest guest
Is Northside one of them and how would you find out??? I'm hoping I'm getting what I pay for-you know??
Guest guest
We have patients who get hormones compounded at Northside and I have not heard any negative comments. Everyone's labs are better. We also have some who use and rave about Abram's Royal. Most of ours (due to our location) go to Flower Mound Herbal Pharmacy or Trinity Pharmacy in Carrollton. One couple uses Las Colinas Pharmacy, but they started using them when they saw a doc in Irving. We do have patients who use Daugherty's but none for compounding. There is a " People First Pharmacy " going in near my house. I don't know if it's related to the People's Pharmacy in Austin. One of our Austin patients uses them. One lady uses Pharmacy Plus in Coppell. When I have called her stuff in I have had pharmacists who seemed clueless and others who seems to know their stuff. I now generally fax compound scripts to them so it can sit and wait for someone who understands it. There are Community Pharmacies in Denton and Aubrey that do compounding. My favorite thing about independent, compounding pharmacies? They never question me when I call in Armour.
Guest guest
No. I have never used People's Pharmacy. When I priced Armour locally in the Dallas area, Target and Costco had the best prices on Armour. As for compounds, I have yet to hear of a compounder that has better prices than WI. . . . .except for Caprock, which sent me subpotent hormones. mylilsuzyqs wrote: Hi Jan,I hope that People's Pharmacy wasn't one of the two. They are who I use and are pricey! I really do need to find a different pharmacy in town. I even asked and Target has lower prices than Peoples for Armour. $15 and some change vs $22.53 for 60 1 grain tabs of armour.Sue> > >> > We were getting a lot of subpotent hormones from two different local > compounders.
